Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. hi thereis this comptatible with canon 5d mark III?tx

A: The Tiffen 82mm FL-D Flourescent Glass Filter for Daylight Film is designed to prevent color casting on color film, and is unnecessary for digital cameras such as the Canon 5D Mark III. To avoid color cast from flourescent lights with your camera, simply change the white balance to flourescent lighting.

Q: 2. Using flash outdoors (flash dialled 1 stop brighter than sun), id like to reduce the blue saturation of the ambient daylight (in a colour image, not B&W) will this filter reduce/mute/gray the blue saturation? If anyone has tried this, can you please direct me to an example image? Thanks everyone!

A: Colored filters are usually meant to be used to change the contrast in black and white photography. If you were to use a yellow filter while shooting color, the whole picture will have a yellow cast. The best way to reduce the blue saturation would be to either overexpose the sky, or ideally in post production you can under-saturate the blues.

Q: 3. With daylight film in mixed incandescent lighting, how does this filter differ from the cooling color conversion filter grades?

A: This Tiffen 55mm FL-D Fluorescent Glass Filter for Daylight Film will remove the green cast of fluorescent lights. With multiple type of lighting filtration can be tricky, I would filter for the dominant light source and err towards what I believe would look most natural. i.e., warmer skin tones would look more natural than green or blue skin.

Q: 4. Where can I find a transmission curve for the Tiffen Yellow #12 filter?

A: Please email techsupport@tiffen.com for assistance.

Q: 5. How many stops should I add when using this filter?

A: This Tiffen 43mm Deep Yellow #15 Filter would require the addition of 1.3 stops.

Q: 6. Will this reduce or remove Purple Fringing from Night Shots? What about Chromatic Abberations?

A: This is a specialized UV filter for blocking UV into the violet region of the visible light spectrum. It helps to prevent unsharpness during ultraviolet fluorescence photography caused by chromatic aberrations due to intense UV lighting situations.

Q: 7. Hello, this filter has a square shape? Do you sell it in a round shape? I need to use it on a 58mm lens, do you sell any adapters to use it?

A: You can use this adapter to mount this filter to a 58mm lens: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/186726-REG/LEE_Filters_Gel_Snap_3x3_4x4_Filter.html

Q: 8. Does this Heliopan #15 Dark Yellow filter “digital” version work equally well for film analog ?

A: The Heliopan 67mm #15 Dark Yellow Filter is suitable for use on film and digital cameras.

Q: 9. What is the filter factor for this? I can't seem to find that data on Tiffen's website.

A: This filter has a filter factor of 4 as per Tiffen.

Q: 10. Is this 4x4 #12 filter 2mm thick so it will fit in a Lee or similar type holder?

A: Tiffen 4x4 filters are made of glass instead of resin like Lee filters and are 4mm thick instead of 2mm thick. Tiffen makes a PRO100 filter holder for these filters:a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1276984-REG/tiffen_pro100hdr77_pro100_holder_with_77.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1276984-REG/tiffen_pro100hdr77_pro100_holder_with_77.html/a

[0.1 lb] Bought this for my daughter for her B&W photography college couarse. It gives amazing, balanced contrast without being too stark. Fits right between the lighter K2 yellow and the more pronounced contrast of the orange filters. Tiffen glass and construction seems to be of good quality. Priced lower than other brands. Put this on your film SLR lens instead of the protective UV glass and leave it there.

[40.5 mm] Despite this being a digital-capture world (and yes, I am a part of it), I shot film for a few decades and still enjoy using it on occasion. Tiffen's deep yellow #15 filter makes virtually all black and white pictures look better than anything.
