Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can images be uploaded to my hard drive via Image Capture?

A: According to Canon, the PowerShot SX70 HS is capable of sending images wirelessly to a computer that has the Canon Image Utility 2 software installed on it, which would then allow you to save the images to the hard drive.

Q: 2. I want a light weight camera to hang around my neck while kayaking. It would likely not get submerged, but would get splashes. Is this a good buy for me?

A: Yes, great all around camera with a huge zoom range to cover many different shooting scenes at a wide range of distances.

Q: 3. Can you put a polarizing filter on this camera?

A: Yes, you first need a lens adapter, then you can you attach a 67mm filter to it. Click the link below to view; https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/739887-REG/Canon_4728B001_4728B001_Filter_Adapter_FA_DC67A.html

Q: 4. Is this a good camera for taking sport photos?

A: Yes definitely! If you are looking for a small compact camera with a really long zoom and a 10 frames per second shooting this is the one. You will get great pictures with this and this is pretty easy to use and most of all you could bring to any sporting events without any problem about the size.

Q: 5. What is the 35mm equivalent optical zoom range?

A: This camera has a 1/2.3" sensor with a crop factor of 5.52 relative to the 36x24mm sensor of a full frame camera. This would calculate to a full frame camera optical zoom range of 21mm to 1365mm (as reported in Canon's official press release).

Q: 9. dose this camera have a macro setting ?

A: This camera does have a macro mode. The icon for it looks like a flower.

Q: 10. What is the maximum write speed to the memory card?

A: Unfortunately, Canon does not list the maximum write speed of the Canon PowerShot SX70 HS Digital Camera. However, as indicated on page 24 of the camera's Instruction Manual, the camera supports UHS-I SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards. As such, the fastest card I would recommend using in the above camera for best performance would be a UHS-I memory card. If you are looking for a fast UHS-I memory card compatible for use with the Canon PowerShot SX70 HS Digital Camera, I would recommend the SanDisk 64GB Extreme PRO UHS-I SDXC Memory Card, B&H # SAEPSD64GBG, as a good option for your usage needs.

[3.0"] This is a handy little camera with a powerful zoom lens.

We compared it to an old Canon 6D with canon ef 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6l is (first gen) usm lens, and it did better than anticipated! Amazing how far technology has progressed.

I bought this for my wife who wants the convenience of a point and shoot camera, but also needs the extra zoom capabilities of a much more expensive set up. She also likes the fact that it is easy to use and lightweight.

While it is not a DSLR replacement, it is a great little bridge camera that is ideal to take with you when you are traveling, kayaking, have little to no room for a bulky camera and lens gear, bicycling or simply keeping it in your car and have it handy for a photo opportunity.

Also a great gift idea!

[JPEG, Raw] Needed a versatile camera that was small and light enough to carry in a hip pack/fanny pack. I am a birder and I also wanted a camera with a zoom lens. This camera has it all. I admit that it gets a bit more difficult to get a great image with little or no noise if I go much past 30x, so I try not to! I have gotten great pictures of dragon flies on flowers and equally great images of terns flying past. Hard to do better with this sized camera with a fixed lens. Five stars for me.

[65x] I can't pay any higher praise on this camera than, I bought it again.

Besides the really long optical zoom, I love the flip-out back viewer. I use the flip-out back almost exclusively. The viewer eye piece works fine, but I am more comfortable not looking through the camera. I like to twist the back viewer for high and low-angle shots. That is something a camera with a built-in view back can not do. I will sorely miss this camera when I can no longer buy another.

The camera is choke full of other nifty features, but I am mostly a point-n-shoot photographer. In manual-mode, I got some great eclipse shots (lunar and solar) using a tripod for stability. Canon has somewhat recently added a phone app that allows remote control of the camera and remote downloads to the phone memory card. I really am digging those feature, too.

Since Canon has not made a replacement camera in this line, I have to assume they are not developing this line any further. I think I should buy still another and just store it away until I wear out this new one.

[65x] Purchased this camera after sending back nikon p950, which had very slow focusing despite numerous setting adjustments.
This camera is very quick at focusing and excellent photos. Wife loves it, so do I.
Also very lightweight, easy to carry!

[920,000 Dot] I've owned Canon cameras for decades. I was hesitant to buy a bridge camera because of their reputation for "soft" lenses, but I couldn't resist the incredible range of the zoom. I've been very happy with the quality of the images. By increasing the ISO a bit I've been able to take better than expected nature photographs. I was blown away when I captured the craters on the moon for the first time. I love this camera, and it's so lightweight!

[65x] I use this camera 99% of the time for birding - specifically to confirm my sightings. I shoot exclusively in auto mode and sometimes the images (in good light - 3 examples are attached below) are very nice, and as other reviewers have stated, it suffers in diminished light. It has somewhat replaced my spotting scope, using the super zoom to identify distant birds. Image quality in favorable light is good through the 65x range, and then remains sharp to about 100x or so in the digital range, but decreases rapidly beyond that. Images near full zoom are quite poor, but again have allowed me to make otherwise impossible identifications of birds.

In comparison to my older SX60 HS: 1) The battery is smaller, I always carry a spare 2) The charger is a plug into a wall socket type (no cord) but works fine for me 3) During the lag time between single shots, a sharp still image of my image appears. I do not like this because I cannot follow the bird if it is moving and must attempt to re-find it. On the older camera there was a blurred image of my subject, but I could follow it until the image sharpened for the next shot. Now I must attempt to follow the target with my naked eye between shots. One reviewer has stated that you can set it for single shots with zero lag time, but did not indicate how. I'm still looking into this.

I love this camera and always carry it - the beauty of it being so small and light. As far as complaint #3 above goes, I have just adapted to the change and don't worry about it.
