Tiffen 4x4" Fluorescent Glass Filter For Film

Tiffen 4x4" Fluorescent Glass Filter For Film

$637.20 $777.38

A Tiffen FL-B filter is used to correct the color balance when shooting tungsten film under fluorescent lighting.

This filter is glass and measures 100 x 100 mm (4x4") x 4 mm thick.

NOTE: The FL series of filters alone does not always guarantee 100% correct color balance when shooting under fluorescent lighting. They are general purpose filters intended for moderate correction and will not, by themselves, necessarily provide perfect color rendition.

An FL-W filter is used to balance daylight film under warm white or white type fluorescent lamps. An FL-D filter is used when you wish to correct for the greenish tone that appears when shooting daylight film under general purpose fluorescent lighting.

Fluorescent lamps burn at many different temperatures and often require more demanding filtration for exact results. For specific filtration and professional use, it is strongly recommended that a color temperature meter be employed along with Color Correction filters (i.e.CC30M) when shooting under fluorescent lighting. This is the only proven way to achieve exact color correction.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. This one is the correct filter to photographs dive ?

A: Could you please clarify your question? By dive do you mean under water?Thank you.B

Q: 2. Does this have the feet? The pictures appear to show two different products. Will this work on any Lightbox?

A: According to the manufacturer, the Negative Supply 4 x 5 Film Holder with Acrylic Glass does not have feet. You should be able to use it on a flat light such as the Kaiser light. They state if you are using their products, they recommend the Negative Supply 4 x 5 Scanning Kit with Pro Mount MK2 and Two Sheets ANR Glass, B&H # NE45SKIT2ANR, as the 4x5 holder is attached directly to this product and will provide stability (as well as one of their light sources).

Q: 3. Hello, what holder do I need to buy that the filter will fit in it? Thank you

A: This is designed for the Cokin P filter holder. http://bhpho.to/1uFxRzB

Q: 4. What thread pitch has this filter?

A: The pitch on the FTG127C is .75.

Q: 5. What factors are considerations in deciding between Canon 72mm UV Protector Lens ($34) verses Canon 72mm Circular Polarizing Lens ($159) for the lens I just purchased from you, Canon EF 85 mm f/1.2L USM (order no. 502379850). Thank you in advance.

A: A UV filter is basically a clear protection filter that works well for protecting your lens from scratches and smudges. A polarizing filter is helpful when shooting on bright sunny days as it reduces reflection and glare, and it also saturates the sky and gives your photos a nice rich and dark blue color.

Q: 6. Does this filter have a thread pitch of .5mm or .75mm? In other words, will it fit on a black chrome edition 50mm Summilux-M which takes only .75 mm thread pitch filters?

A: This filter will fit the 50mm Summilux.

Q: 7. Can this filter be used to filter out sodium yellow flare off when using a glass blowing torch?

A: The filter will not decrease flair. And with flair from a blow torch it is not the color as much as it is just too bright.

Q: 8. My Cokin P Series Holder accepts the Cokin P164 Circular Glass Filter, and I the 77m adapter ring fits as well. However, the filter does not turn easily and the adapter ring allows the holder to spin easily. What has anyone done to make these parts work as they should?

A: If the filter is truly hard to turn and you are still in 30 days from B&H, you should contact B&H Customer Service to see if you can exchange it. As far as dealing with the holder spinning, I would suggest trying spinning of the filter in the opposite direction, the direction use to tighten the 77mm adapter.

Q: 9. Is this 2 sheets or 1?

A: The, Negative Supply Sheet of 4x5 ANR Glass for 4x5 Sheet Film Holder is one sheet.

Q: 10. Does this polarizing filter fit in Cokin P series? I have a 77mm lens?

A: I was in Alaska and tried to use the polarizing filter and could not get it to go in the P sized filter holder. I have not had the time to contact b&h photo to see what is what. Two things I should have done, make sure that the filter would fit, asking them to try it before they shopped it. When I received it make sure it fit with my p sized holder. Still not sure what is wrong. . .It was to late to exchange it by the time we got back from our trip. A very expensive mistake.

[FLB (Tungsten)] I use this for B&W photography and it works as advertised. I haven't used any other yellow filters on this particular camera (so I cannot make a comparison between brands), but this is a great value.

[6 x 5.6 x 1.1"] The filter besides matching its description, is of sound quality construction. It will no doubt perform as intended, and will last for years. Looking forward to using it in the field.

[FLB (Tungsten)] As the previous reviewer mentioned, this piece of glass is 4mm thick instead of the more standard 2mm thick that filter systems accommodate. If you are using the original Lee 4x4 setup, you can order 4mm side guides (google it) for your kit that will allow to use the thicker glass. I hope this helps someone.

[FLB (Tungsten)] Have always purchased Tiffen filters. In my opinion thay are the best filters out there. Great glass and dyes. I have Tiffens that are over 30 years old and still are as good as the day I purchased them.

[FLB (Tungsten)] I've decided to standardize on 77mm filters going forward. That way I need to buy only one of each color/type. I have no plans to buy or use any lens using filters larger than 77mm. I'll use step-up rings to adapt the filters to those lenses I use that use smaller diameter filters. this filter is a quality item and I've rated it at '5' for that reason.
