Tiffen 3x3" Fl-d Fluorescent Glass Filter

Tiffen 3x3" Fl-d Fluorescent Glass Filter
  • Product Code: eq6253

$379.50 $550.27

A Tiffen FL-D filter is used when you wish to correct for the greenish tone that appears when shooting daylight film under general purpose fluorescent lighting.

This filter is glass and measures 75 x 75 mm (3x3") x 4 mm thick.

NOTE: The FL series of filters alone does not always guarantee 100% correct color balance when shooting under fluorescent lighting. They are general purpose filters intended for moderate correction and will not, by themselves, necessarily provide perfect color rendition.

An FL-W filter is used to balance daylight film under warm white or white type fluorescent lamps. An FL-B filter is used to correct the color balance when shooting tungsten film under fluorescent lighting.

Fluorescent lamps burn at many different temperatures and often require more demanding filtration for exact results. For specific filtration and professional use, it is strongly recommended that a color temperature meter be employed along with Color Correction filters (i.e.CC30M) when shooting under fluorescent lighting. This is the only proven way to achieve exact color correction.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this flash compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M1?

A: Yes, the Olympus FL-50R is compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M1.

Q: 2. Does this polarizing filter fit in Cokin P series? I have a 77mm lens?

A: I was in Alaska and tried to use the polarizing filter and could not get it to go in the P sized filter holder. I have not had the time to contact b&h photo to see what is what. Two things I should have done, make sure that the filter would fit, asking them to try it before they shopped it. When I received it make sure it fit with my p sized holder. Still not sure what is wrong. . .It was to late to exchange it by the time we got back from our trip. A very expensive mistake.

Q: 3. Hello, from Adelaide, Australia.I am seeking an external battery power supply for the Olympus FL-50R flash unit, which either plugs into the socket located at the lower front of the FL-50R unit, or the similar socket located on the side of the FP-1 Flash Power Grip. Olympus used to have a SHV-01 battery unit but is now discontinued. Do you have a replacement unit, such as a GODOX or similar, to provide this function? Alternatively, please advise if the METZ connector is the same. These unique connectors provide a dual power supply of 6 and 300 volts. Hope you can assist.Best regards,Geoff.

A: To power your Olympus FL-50R flash, you can use the Quantum QB 1 Plus battery. Please see the following link:http://bhpho.to/omPwABAnd you will need this cable. Please see the following link:http://bhpho.to/lTWL8uYour rates will vary from flash model to flash model but it should last for about 250 full power flashes or about 1000 in TTL or auto mode. And your recycle time will be about 50% faster when using the Quantum battery.

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the Lumix GH-4? If so, how does it compare with the Panasonic flashes?

A: I am sorry I can not offer advice regarding the use of the FL50R on a Panasonic DSLR. I purchased to be used specifically with my Olympus E-3 which is sync for TTL for their cameras. Have been an Olympus user since 1978, which began with OM-2 Film camera bodies.

Q: 5. Is this flash compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M10?

A: I shoot with the OM-D E-M1 and the flash works great. I have a soft box attachment for my portraits. I've had it for two years and no job was an issue. Love the Olympus equipment. Enjoy

Q: 6. Hello, why does this filter seems to take two slots space when placed in the back slot of the Cokin P holder ? Only the front slot seems to be available when I put this filter. For example, CP + ND10 is possible but not CP + GND + ND10.

A: I just put the CP in the backmost slot, therefore taking up the very thin slot at back and one regular slot in front of it. Then I slid in both the dark gray and light gray filters into the two slots in front of the CP without any problem.

Q: 7. Is there a way to use this filter with the HITECH HT85AMH filter holder.? What accessory pieces do I need to adapt the holder for this filter?

A: You need to adjust the thickness of one slot to match this filter, then it will slide in the same as a rectangular filter.

Q: 8. Can you use it for video with a constant light source?

A: TODAY'S ELECTRONIC FLASHES ARE LATTER DAY GENERATIONS OF THE EARLY MODEL STROBES OF THE 70'S AND 80'S AND I DON'T KNOW OF ANY THAT ARE COMPATIBLE WITH. VIDEO WORK INCLUDING THE FL50r. I JUST USED MY FL50r TO DO A LARGE CHURCH WEDDING (ALL STILLS) AND IT PERFORMED EXTREMELY WELL WHEN COUPLED TO AN OMD-EM5 UNDER EXTREME AMBIENT LIGHT CONDITIONS.

Q: 9. Can this flash be used with its TTL capabilities on the Olympus OM-D E-M10?Add to Compare

A: Yes, TTL can be used with the Olympus FL-14 and Olympus OM-D E-M10.

Q: 10. What thread pitch has this filter?

A: The pitch on the FTG127C is .75.

[4.75 x 4.4 x 1"] The fluorescent lighting filter works great in an all fluorescent lit room but not so much when there is mixed lighting. The product does a great job and I recommend it. Like any such product, be wary when using it. Take a test shot or two to make sure there is not other lighting in the room which will throw it off.
