A favored focal length for everything from landscape to street shooting, the Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S Lens for Mirrorless Camerasis a prime wide-angle lens characterized by its versatility and bright f/1.8 maximum aperture. Furthering its merits, the optical design features two extra-low dispersion elements and three aspherical elements, which reduce a variety of aberrations and distortion to produce imagery with high sharpness, clarity, and accurate color rendering. Both Nano Crystal and Super Integrated Coatings are used, too, to suppress flare and ghosting for greater color fidelity and higher contrast.

Benefitting the optics, a stepping motor provides quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override to suit both stills and video applications. Additionally, a programmable control ring can be set for intuitive adjustment over a variety of camera and exposure settings.

Prime wide-angle lens is designed for FX-format Z-mount mirrorless cameras.

Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture suits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers increased control over depth of field for isolating subjects and working with selective focus.

Three aspherical elements are used to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp imagery with accurate rendering.

Two extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color rendering.

A Nano Crystal Coat, along with a Super Integrated Coating, has been applied to lens elements to minimize surface and internal reflections for a marked reduction in lens flare and ghosting.

Stepping motor delivers impressively smooth, quiet, and fast autofocus performance that is well-suited to both stills and video applications. Full-time manual focus override is also possible and an internal focusing design is used, where only the internal lens groups are moved during focusing, to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote faster focusing speeds.

Programmable Control Ring is, by default, set to adjust manual focus, but can also be used to control aperture or exposure compensation.

Specialized electromagnetic aperture mechanism provides greater exposure control stability that is especially beneficial when working with fast continuous shooting rates.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm promotes a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

Dust- and moisture-resistant lens barrel benefits the lens' use in inclement conditions.

A: I borrowed this lens from a friend took the dive early to try it on my Z6. I haven't noticed any difference in auto focus sound between this and my 24-70. Both are very quiet. One note is that if used for video, you will pick up a nearly discernible buzz but again this is the same on both lens. Possibly pull the lens and remount to make sure it is secure and locked, other than that I don't believe you should hear any difference form your 24-70. I'll be placing an order for my own 35mm Z lens tomorrow.

A: The filter threads on the Nikon NIKKOR Z 35mm f/1.8 S Lens are plastic.

[1.505 lb] I've had this lens for about 6 weeks and have already taken well over 10,000 photos with it at weddings and portrait sessions. It's quick to find focus, the photos are always tack sharp, it's lightweight, and the colors are nice. I'd easily pay 2x more for a 1.4 or 1.2, but the 1.8 really does get the job done!

[9, Rounded] this is my main lens to begin any event or shoot, love the weight my hand appreciate it, good for video and stills, and I recommend to use native lenses on z cameras I believe they focus faster with z lenses, not a big fan of the FTZ adapter

[62 mm (Front)] One of the sharpest ones out there! My everyday lens. It's lightweight, fast and sharp. Perfect for indoor and outdoor shots!

[63°] Compared to my DSLR Zeiss Distagon 35/1.4 this is as good image quality without distortion or soft corners ~ yet is less expensive, lighter, and smaller. Since the Zeiss is hard to manually focus this is a no-brainer, best 35mm FX lens yet.

However... Nikon kind of goofed, they should have introduced compact pancakes with the Z cameras. These 1.8 lenses are all excellent but they'll large, defeating much of the rationale for getting mirrorless.

Give us a quality 35-40mm f/3.5 pancake that isn't jutting out from the camera body and they'd sell a lot more of the Z system in the USA at least.

[1.505 lb] The Nikkor Z 35mm f/1.8 S lens spends more time on my Z5 than any other lens. It easily replaced both my Z 28mm f/2.8 and Z 40mm f/2 lenses and It's thinner and lighter than the Nikkor Z 50mm f/1.8 S lens.
