The VOX MV50 Boutique has been designed to take the classic sound of a VOX boutique tube amplifier and shrink its form factor down to a miniaturized size. Measuring only 5.3 x 3.0 x 3.9”, this amplifier head provides 50W of power and is capable of driving cabinets at four, eight, and 16 Ohms. The amplifier accomplishes this feat thanks in no small part to an all-analog preamp circuit utilizing Nutube technology, as well as analog components which reproduce the character of traditional VOX tube amplifiers. This amplifier delivers a warm and sweet clean tone, though it can be driven into a cutting and searing lead sound.

The MV50 Boutique provides one 1/4" guitar input, one 1/4" speaker output, and a 1/4" headphone/line output. Gain, tone, and volume controls are provided to tweak the amp's tone. A switch on the back of the amplifier allows you to raise or lower the impedance level to sculpt your tone and interface with compatible cabinets.

To suit a wide variety of cabinets, an EQ switch on the rear of the amp head has been provided, giving you two tone-shaping options. DEEP mode puts the emphasis on the low-frequency range and is particularly useful with smaller cabinets; FLAT mode, on the other hand, allows you to take full advantage of a larger speaker’s inherent tonal characteristics. The 1/4" headphone/line output utilizes a cabinet simulation circuit to offer you the full sound of an amplifier/head combo when routing signal to headphones, DIs, recording interfaces, mixers, PAs, and more.

Looking more like a chip than a conventional valve, the Nutube is a vacuum tube utilizing technology from vacuum fluorescent displays. As with conventional vacuum tubes, the Nutube is constructed with an anode, grid, and filament, and operates as a complete triode tube. Furthermore, it generates the response as well as the same rich harmonic characteristics of conventional vacuum tubes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this Fresnel come with a powerCON to Edison cable? Or any power cable at all?

A: It comes with a PowerCon to Edison cable.

Q: 2. When turned off / on, (not via remote, but unplugging from the wall) will it remember the last setting?

A: No, the last setting would not be retained on the Savage LED Bi-Color Bulb if unplugged from a screw base fixture.

Q: 3. Will four bulbs on a single circuit simultaneously pair with the remote control when the circuit is switched on?

A: Yes, up to four bulbs can be driven on a 2.4 gig frequency.

Q: 4. Hello! Would a Roland JV2080 sound module fit in one of these bags? If not, is there a bag you would recommend?

A: thank you for your question. This bag will not fit the JV2080. I suggest using the SKB Audio Soft Rack (1U Rack Size, 20.75 x 17.5 x 3.75", Black) BH #SKSC191U

Q: 5. Does the MXT500 come with an antenna?

A: Yes, the Midland MXT500 MicroMobile 2-Way Radio comes with an antenna as well as a magnet mount/cable, microphone, and power cord.

Q: 6. Is there a way to mount these in a bracket system that will allow me to use grids, snoots, and other modifiers? If so, what product?

A: This product has no add on accessories, it's use is just itself.

Q: 7. Hello.Is the rca phono input compatible with a moving-coil input?Thanks

A: One disadvantage of the moving coil cartridge is that it generates a smaller voltage and requires a secondary preamplifier, sometimes known as a head amp. The head amp increases the voltage enough for a phono input on a stereo component. Some moving coil cartridges have higher output and are compatible with a standard phono input, but its output will be somewhat lower than a moving magnet cartridge. So this ART phono preamp is most likely NOT compatible with many moving-coil cartridges unless the manufacturer has designed the cartride for use with a standard phono preamp like the ART.

Q: 8. How is the color controlled?

A: The color on the Savage LED Bi-Color Bulb is controlled via its included remote.

Q: 9. Planning on using an iPad Pro as a source using the usb c. Will this power the iPad while in use?

A: The Violectric DHA V226 Headphone Amplifier, Preamp, and DAC (BH # VIDHAV226) will not power a USB device. The USB-C port is for data/signal only.

Q: 10. Can these bulbs be dimmed by a conventional dimmer switch instead of the remote control?

A: Yes, the savage led bi-color bulb (50W) offers dimmable tri-band technology.

[50 W RMS] This amplifier was simple to connect and it works exactly as they said it would.

[50 W RMS] I'm new to the world of synthesizers. I decided to start my journey with the SH-01A because of its compact form factor and straight forward design. I paired it with the Roland K-25m keyboard, which was really easy to setup.

I also love that this synth is usb powered and can run off 4 AA batteries. It offers more than enough features to be enthralled with the vast array of audio possibilities.

[50 W RMS] About as good as it gets for a microphone preamp. It's worth it to get this or the EC1 as a front end for your recording setup if you're in the market. The headphone mixing makes it perfect: That way you never really have to worry about buffer or latency settings in your interface. Plenty of power for all headphones (more than I've ever heard in any recording interface!) and quite clean too. (Almost too powerful for IEMS though! - it works but you may need to turn things way down though)

If you look up reviews/specs: it measures really well: you can't do any better for a clean preamp or DI. I've never been a fan of tube pres or transformer pres: but if you want that sound: the Mojo actually gets that type of sound but better anyways if you want 'tone'. (I simply just never switch it on)

The external power supply I'm not a fan of: I'd happily pay a bit more for a larger chassis and internal power supply. It's just one of those: if your cable breaks or you run it over with a chair or the pins get damaged - a replacement may not be easy to find and if you have something important to record and need to wait a week or months if this is your only preamp - that may not be what you want.

I'd suggest first buying a DPA or earthworks mic or another SDC that works great on vocals and any instrument: they make the biggest difference. Then interface as most interface preamps are pretty clean - and then one of these after that. These have more headroom and just sound a bit less compressed than most other preamps (easier to hear with IEMS) but a microphone and placement is obviously more important. Though the 0 latency headphone monitoring might actually be quite important too - to make sure you get a good take?

Either way - the EC1 or EC2 are great!

[Tube] Well built and nice and loud. Great for e-drums.

[Tube] Excellent sounding amp for electronic drums. I have an Alesis Command set and the bass response from this amp is terrific. My only qualm is that you cannot use the headphone input to 'monitor' your playing, while mixed in with an iPhone, etc. - either the speaker is engaged OR the headphones, not both simultaneously. Therefore, I use a second monitor (which offers bluetooth) as the music source, then output that amp to the KAT - which inputs my headphones and drum module.
