The AKG CK49 Shotgun Condenser Microphone Capsulefrom AKG CK49 Shotgun Condenser Microphone Capsuleis a hypercardioid reference condenser capsule with an 80° pickup angle and clean off-axis response. It can be used to capture audio and fits all gooseneck modules of the AKG Modular Plus Series as well as the HM1000 M hanging module microphones (both sold separately).

The CK49 is integrated into a slim and rugged metal housing and is an ideal tool for inexperienced speakers; when people talk into the microphone from greater distances it focuses on the voice, and when they talk into it from very short distances it reduces pop-noise. Built with self-cleaning, gold-plated contacts with deep threads to prevent misalignment, the CK49 capsule comes complete with a windscreen that reduces wind and pop noise.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can i get a replacement Mic Stand Adapter for P170?

A: It's an extremely common size. Almost any mic holder for a small diaphragm mic will work.

Q: 2. IS this mic good for live sound applications? Specifically drum over heads? Or would pencil condensers be a better option?

A: Yes, the Avantone Pro CK-6+ Large Capsule Cardioid FET Condenser Microphone is a very good microphone for recording drum overheads. I has a maximum sound pressure level rating of 136 dB. Small diaphragm condenser microphones (pencil style mics) with similar specs are also suitable. Neither style is better than the other. It's a matter of personal preference, as well as whether you would want to be able to use the same mic for other applications, which many people often do. The CK-6+ is a versatile mic that can be used for numerous recording applications.

Q: 3. What is the max dB SPL this can handle? Thanks

A: The maximum sound pressure level rating for the Zoom SGH-6 Shotgun Microphone Capsule is 122 dB SPL.

Q: 4. This mic does not change from Omni to Cardiod pattern at the flick of a switch. It has two different capsules that must be exchanged for this purpose. Did you get this wrong?

A: The CAD Equitek E70 microphone features interchangeable capsules. Included are a cardioid and an omni patterned capsule.

Q: 5. Considering a shotgun mic for my H6. Would there be any reason to own both the SSH and SGH versions? Is the SSH just an SGH with stereo side recording capabilities?

A: Both the SSH-6 and SGH-6 are shotgun microphones, capable of capturing audio at farther distances than a traditional handheld microphone. The benefit of the SSH-6 is that it captures audio in stereo; a benefit mostly used in music and ambient sound recording. If you are just recording dialogue, the SGH-6 would be more than adequate.

Q: 6. Does someone who have this, think it does or would work well if put on a boom pole with the h5 to record dialogue inside?

A: Works GREAT outside, inside I have found the sound to be strangely distorted. Would not recommend for indoor dialog.

Q: 7. Will this mic work properly off 15v church fixed phantom power?

A: This mic will operate properly on a range of 44 to 52 Volts phantom power.

Q: 8. Dose this mic come with a shock mount?

A: No, it does not come with a shock mount, just a regular sand mount. You can purchase a shock mount separately: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075693-REG/auray_shm_uc2_shock_mount_for_cylindrical.html

Q: 9. The ssh model is described as having an hyper-cardioid polar pattern and the sgh a super-cardioid polar pattern. Is there a functional difference?

A: The main difference between the two models is that the SGH-6 uses three internal mic capsules and has a supercardioid polar pattern for a tight, focused response and dual-mono output. The SSH-6 is a stereo mid-side shotgun microphone with two internal mic capsules which each pickup sound from a different direction in order to create a wider stereo image with more ambience than a mic that picks up sound from one direction. One capsule from the SSH-6 is extremely focused on picking up sound on center and can be combined with its bidirectional capsule which is able to pickup sound from the left or right side to create a spacious stereo image that can be mono-compatible. For example, you can record dialogue with the center microphone and then mix in the desired amount of ambient sound captured by the side microphone. Both models are very good for picking up dialog. The SGH-6 is for one direction and SSH-6 is also capable of stereo imaging.

Q: 10. Can you directly ship it to Kathmandu, Nepal? I am paying it from Australia Please.

A: You may calculate your actual shipping options/order totals by adding the items you want to a shopping cart. It will then list the shipping options, descriptions, ETA's and fees to your location.

[10 mV/Pa] Great mic with great sound for the price. I have 6 of them now. I use them as overheads for drums, guitar amps, and also as choir mics. I only had to perform a couple of EQ curves. Understand it's not just the mic that needs to sound good. The preamp, mixing console, amps, speaker system and room acoustics all play a role in the overall sound. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link.

[10 mV/Pa] I recently purchased this microphone (Akg p120) In hopes that I can get an nice decent recording for my songs. I saw the price it was listed at and Instantly had to buy. When I received it and recorded with it I was mind blown by the results, I got some really good crystal clear vocals and to this day I love it so much it’s one of my favorites !

[10 mV/Pa] This is a very wonderful microphone. From the very first voice recording I ever made, I loved how my voice sounded. It seemed to isolate my voice, like I was speaking in a padded room. I couldn't believe how defined and precise my voice sounded. I believe it keeps my voice very accurate, and very clean. It picks up my voice very good without getting any noise from my computer in the background. It is very sensitive, and very powerful. I use 50% gain on my Scarlett USB interface. This microphone is supposed to be more forgiving on Vocals than the older P220 model which was extremely bright on top. The P120 is slightly bright, but not metallic or shrill. It's a very precise clean bright sound, that really makes your voice clear. I don't notice any residual harmonic distortion, so the circuitry is obviously very good. No hiss, or background buzz whatsoever. I think if this microphone cost $200, people would be buying it like crazy.

[Condenser] The AKG P120 has very good dynamic range for a budget microphone. Excellent for voice, and quite good for instrumentals (cello and guitar), too. I listened to every microphone in the $150-250 dollar range before making a decision, and this handily outperformed every other mic in this class. Very nice build quality, heavy and robust.

[Mono] We use this as an overhead stage microphone and it works beautifully. When properly set on the sound board, it clearly picks up voice and song while hanging about four or five feet above the actors.
