I set the HDD's up in Raid 1 configuration.� �My other Nas has WD Red's in them too for the last 7 years.� The setup could not be any easier.� you do it online at WD. using your box's ip address.� This box has a transcoder for video resizing on output streaming to your playback devices.

[None.] Pro photographers need to protect their assets. Western Digital's PR2100 NAS drive does this and more. Western Digital has provided battery backup (using approved uninterrupted power sources) for their PR2100 NAS. Connect the Pr2100 to an approved UPS using WD's USB cable. The NAS will shut down orderly upon a utility power failure, your files are protected. Many other features such as DLNA, Plex, backup and security are also part of this great NAS system.

[JBOD] Nice unit overall. Interface to transfer data from another drive is cumbersome at best. I have the pr2100 in my bedroom due to router/modem location and it is noticeably loud, nothing disturbing, but more than one would expect. Have only had it 2 months as it just replaced my old mybook live so time will tell.

[120 GB] My 6 year old first generation WD NAS server was getting old enough that I took it out of primary file service for a small business before it failed.
I know my way around the WD software so the transition was effortless. Not quite plug and play considering how one needs to configure a multi computer NAS RAID array. But easy enough. It came preconfigured RAID 1. After a few minutes creating folders, users and permissions I was ready to start the file transfers. It didn't take long to realize how much quicker it is than the original model.
Now after using it for a few weeks, the speed upgrade is noticeable every day.

If you are looking for a small business file server, this does the job nicely.

[Mouse, keyboard] The Synology BeeStation was simple to install and set up. Everything worked as per the instructions. I already had a Synology account from an existing 3 GB Cloud Station that has been working perfectly however it ran out of storage space, so I added the BeeStation for an additional 4 TB of storage. The two units are on the same network and don't talk to each other directly, but I can easily transfer files back and forth between them using Microsoft File Explorer. It was a simple and inexpensive solution for my needs.

[SSD] Great product. Bought his to replace external drives, one of which fell and got damaged. This product was easy to setup and works really well. The great thing is, it can be access from any computer at home or even remotely.

Would strongly recommend. One recommendation is to get a minimum of two 4TB drive and organize as raid 1

[Mouse, keyboard] I had minimal issues in setup and the process is fairly straightforward. The USB transfer speed is a step down from my older drive, but it was not a network drive and for the price, this is a reasonable compromise. The drives do make an odd moo sound as they spin down, but both behave identically and some internet research led me to accept this is normal behavior for these drives.
