The Genelec 7382AP SAM 15" 2500W Studio Subwoofer Blackis a professional, active subwoofer designed to extend the bass reproduction of active loudspeakers. With flexible calibration and bass-management features, it easily integrates into environments requiring analog or digital interfacing, for sound systems ranging from simple stereo to 40+ channels of immersive audio in large recording studios, film mixing facilities, mastering suites, post-production houses, clubs, or high-end home theaters.

The 7382AP's rugged, wood-fiberboard enclosure houses three, custom-designed 15" long-throw woofers, which deliver high SPL up to 130 dB, with low distortion and minimal power compression. Combined with a laminar-flow, bass-reflex port, the subwoofer provides precise bass articulation at frequencies down to 15 Hz.

Electronics are integrated in the RAM-SW remote amplifier module, individually calibrated to match the supplied subwoofer. The module contains active crossover filters, digital signal processing algorithms, overload protection, and a 2500W, Class-D amplifier. Analog and AES/EBU digital I/O, as well as a separate LFE (Low Frequency Effect) analog input offer a set of flexible connectivity options, which support distributed bass-management technology.

As part of the SAM Series of subwoofers, the 7382AP integrates with the Genelec Loudspeaker Manager (GLM) software (free download available separately), via which it can be calibrated, configured, and controlled to compensate for detrimental room/acoustic anomalies, solve issues of subwoofer placement, and obtain a flat frequency response.

Built to withstand the rigors of professional use, the 7382AP's electronics, drivers, and enclosure were designed, assembled, tested, and individually calibrated in the Genelec factory in Iisalmi, Finland.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this be a good choice to pair with the 8050A (LRC) and the 8040A (Ls,Rs) for a 5.1 setup in a 15x10 room?

A: The Genelec 7360APM would be a better choice by the specs because it goes down to 19Hz, giving you a lower frequency response. However, your room is not too large, and you may not be driving the 8050 and 8040 monitors to their full volume potential. Since the 7360APM is a SAM sub (DSP/GLM-network enabled and ready for 7.1) it's price point is higher.

Q: 2. Current model on Genelec site is 8010A - what is the difference between this 8010 and 8010A?

A: The A in an 8010 model means Active since it has a built in power amp. It seems 8010 and 8010A are used interchangeably online when referring to the active speaker.

Q: 3. How many watts.

A: 2,500 W Peak / 1,250 W RMS

Q: 4. why is the volume control 1/8in? this seems incredibly strange, given that the speakers and subwoofer both require XLR inputs, and are likely being fed either from the XLR output of a mixer, or the RCA output of a DAC. The speakers specifically state that they shouldn't be fed using an amplified signal, so that would rule out sources like an ipad, iphone, or computer.

A: The product is meant for convenience when monitoring straight out of a computer minijack. The volume control input and output have 3.5 mm stereo male and female connectors providing immediate connectivity with most computers and laptops, MP3 players and game stations. A converter cable converting 2 x RCA to 3.5 mm stereo (female) is needed for audio equipment with RCA outputs. A converter cable converting 3.5 mm stereo (male) to 2 x XLR (male) is needed to use 9000A Stereo Volume Control with Genelec monitor loudspeakers having XLR input. These cables can be obtained from your authorized Genelec dealer. The connecting cable on 9000A is Y-shaped. After 1 meter (3 ft 3") from the control knob the single cable splits into two 1 meter (3 ft 3") cables, one for audio input, one for audio output. Technical Specifications • Weight: 0,325 kg (0,72 lbs) • Height: 42 mm (1 5/8") • Diameter: 60 mm (2 1/8")

Q: 5. Thanks for your input. I need to keep shopping, since two of these are out of my price range. Can someone recommend a comparable set for less than $300/set?

A: A great alternative in similar size and price range would be the Senal ASM-3 which ship as a pair. Another quality option in your price range, the Tannoy Reveal 402. These ship as individual units and will fit your budget.

Q: 6. How much heat does the amplifier generate? I'm asking so we can properly spec our aircon system

A: The manufacturer has not provided a specification for the amount of heat that the Genelec 7382AP SAM Series 3 x 15" 2500W Studio Subwoofer generates. Genelec does note that this subwoofer is designed for indoor use only and provides specifications for the environment that it can be used in. The permissible ambient temperature is 50 to 95°F and relative humidity 20 to 80% (noncondensing). The amplifier should never be covered or placed it in a closed cabinet. The space must be ventilated or sufficiently large enough to dissipate heat so that the ambient temperature around the 7382AP does not rise above 95°F. The reflex port opening on the enclosure should have a minimum clearance of at least 8 inches to ensure functioning of the reflex port. If the subwoofer is going to be flush mounted in a wall, you must allow for unrestricted airflow in the reflex port and amplifier cooling.

Q: 7. Between this 8010 and 8010A white version bh have. what is Difference ? Just color? Or ia there any difference more than that?

A: Both monitors are the same model. The only difference between the two is the color. B&H #GE8010AP is the producer finish and B&H # GE8010AW is the same monitor in white finish.

Q: 8. Please advise if the Genelec 8020.LSE ESPRESSO Active 5.1 Monitoring System has a 220V power supply?

A: Our units ship as 120 VAC units only and cannot be externally switched.

Q: 9. What's the height of this product? How much does it raise the speakers?

A: Total height of the table stand is not offered unfortunately, however when mounted to a 6010 or 8010 speaker will raise the speaker 96mm (3.75 ) from the surface.

Q: 10. $2250.00, is that the price of the pair or a single?

A: That is the price of one single 8331 SAM studio monitor. Please discuss pricing with your B&H sales person. Thank you.

[129 dB] I have been mixing in the professional environment for over 30 years. I mostly do film and have a small editing suite in my house. This is the perfect addition for a small mix room to accurately monitor low end frequencies. It will keep you from being surprised when your films or videos, show and play on big systems!
You won't be sorry you bought this!

[Horizontal] I run and operate a busy color suite in South Florida. As a full-time Colorist my first and only concern is helping my clients achieve their vision by making their film and video projects look color perfect.But.I recently wanted to add big theater sound. But - how to do that on a budget, and within the physical limitations of a medium size color suite. Enter Genelec. The 7040A Studio Subwoofer by Genelec is the perfect companion for the 8010's. Easy to set up. Easy to calibrate for your needs. I will always remember my first Genelec moment. As my client's movie trailer played on my color monitor - the 2.1 sound blew me across the room. Close your eyes and you won't believe that this kind of sound is coming out of speakers this small. The 7040A Studio Subwoofer is the key to it all. That - my friend - are the Pros. The Cons? Only one, I can think of: the dip switches. I'm used to volume controls - so it took a bit more fiddling around than I thought I would need to get the sound the way I wanted. The manuals for both speakers and Genelec's website come up short on the kind of help that I needed. It took a little time. But once I understood the dip switch ecosystem - I was good to go.That said - the 7040A Studio Subwoofer by Genelec is a great buy. And, combined with the 8010's - you have one POWERFUL 2.1 audio system. That. Should. Blow. You. Away.Best, Jim --------

[69 x 28 x 26"] Yes, it was and additional considerable investment.
But this subwoofer with my 8330a work in total harmony.
Whether you use the digital or analog inputs they both sound fantastic.
Highly recommended.

[Wood] For being a small enough to seemingly hide under a desk, the whole room can accurately hear, and feel, lows in the studio sound system.

[Horizontal] The 8030C is a fine speaker but it struggles below 90Hz and is hopeless below 60. The 7050C works perfectly with a pair of 8030C. Setting up the phase and sensitivity took maybe 5 minutes. Getting it out of the box took longer. If you have a set of Genelec monitors, especially the 8030 or smaller models, this sub is a no-brainer.

[69 x 28 x 26"] I bought the 8010's to have some portability when traveling and producing electronic music. They have a roll off at 65 HZ, just where bass gets beefy. Considering the size of the 8010's they do an excellent job in the mid and high frequency range...but they seriously lack in the deep end. I have since supplemented them by adding the 7040A and the difference is astounding. Yes, this sub has weight to it, isn't exactly small and the idea of portability is somewhat limited now but I'd do what is necessary to bring this baby along for the ride. I'm talking fullness across the board when combined with the 8010's that could well stand up to my home studio near fields.
