The third generation of the 4401 Fiber Optic Adapter, Ikelite 4401.3 Fiber Optic Converter DS Strobes 3rd Gendoes everything that the previous models did, but features a hard anodized aluminum plug connection which reduces weight without sacrificing durability. It is recommended for use with any Ikelite strobe produced September 2018 or later with a hard anodized aluminum bulkhead.

The 4401.3 continues to be sensitive enough to work with internal electrical-to-optical LED flash triggers. These triggers are found in Sea & Sea and Nauticam housings, among others. The converter adapts the electrical bulkhead of any Ikelite DS strobe into a fiber-optic port.

Updated electronics make this converter capable of accurately reading the LED signals for fast and reliable triggering. Like the original Fiber Optic Adapter, it is also compatible with any system where the camera's built-in flash can be detected by a fiber-optic cable. The converter automatically configures itself for compatibility with both pre-flash and non pre-flash camera modes, so there's no setting of small switches or confusion over number of pre-flashes. Simply turn on your strobe and take one picture to configure.

This device is a non-TTL, manual exposure unit capable of supporting a single strobe. It works with Ikelite's DS50, DS51, DS125, DS160, and DS161 strobes. The converter features a depth rating of 295'.

A: The Ikelite Smart Charger for NiMH Battery Packs for DS160, DS161, and DS125 Strobes (USA/North America) has one LED light. When plugged in the wall and no battery attached the light goes green. When attached to a battery that needs a charge the light goes red. When the battery is finished charging the light turns green.

A: There is no technical difference, Just different part numbers.

[295' / 90 m] We tried other fiber cables of this length that were not reliable. The other cables would worth 'most' of the time but occasionally would drop the connection or slow down. This cable was the answer to all our problems! Its fast and reliable 100%. Yes you can find something less expensive, but based on my experience it will likely not be reliable. You really do get what you pay for with this product, its excellent, fast and reliable. 5

[3 x 3 x 2"] I wrapped a 250ft Outdoor POE CAT6 Network Cable on this reel and it really works well. Not the most durable reel I have ever used but for a network cable it's just what I needed. 5

[0.1 lb] I shoot with a pair of DS 160 strobes. In the past I've used the flat diffuser that come with the strobe. In the waters off of North Carolina and NY/NJ we frequently have a lot of suspended partials. While the flat diffuser offers some help against backscatter - i find they also create 'hot spots'. The new dome diffuser create a more even light and knock down more of the backscatter. 5

[0.1 lb] I had to drill large holes in the very center of the plate to allow for easy in/out of the short end of the cable. After that these reels worked great. Totally worth the price and the headache relief of under/over cable wrapping until your arms fall off. I started with 1 and bought 5 more recently. 5

[0.1 lb] I use this diffusers on a couple of DS161. Shoot with a 7Dmk2, but most of the times I notice the flash too agressive in TTL mode (camera at ISO 100). When you are using a zoom lens an looking for some live form, you cannot adjust in every shoot, so TTL it is almos the best way to go. Anyway, with this products the flash harsh was gone, as well the shadows. I cannot take more pics without these anymore. 5

[295' / 90 m] I have used the old charger with the replaceable plugs (for the power input side) for years and years. No longer. The smart charger is smaller, lighter, equally fast, and the plug part shouldn't fall out. 5
