A versatile all-in-one zoom featuring a robust physical design, the Panasonic Lumix 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH OIS Lensfrom Panasonic Lumix 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 II ASPH OIS Lensis designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and provides a 28-280mm equivalent focal length range. The lens construction incorporates three aspherical elements and a pair of extra-low dispersion elements to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortions for greater image sharpness and clarity. Multi-coatings have also been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color fidelity in harsh lighting conditions.

Benefitting the optics, this zoom sports a splash and dust-resistant design to suit working in inclement weather conditions. This lens also features a stepping motor for fast and quiet autofocus performance that benefits both stills and movie shooting. An internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length during operation and also quickens focusing speeds. Additionally, POWER O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) benefits this expansive wide-to-tele zoom range by compensating for camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

Designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras, this lens provides a 28-280mm equivalent focal length range to cover wide-angle to telephoto perspectives.

Three aspherical elements and two extra-low dispersion elements combine to minimize spherical and chromatic aberrations, as well as distortion, throughout the zoom range for increased clarity and sharpness.

Multi-coated elements help to suppress lens flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy.

POWER O.I.S. compensates for camera shake in order to realize sharper photos and videos when shooting handheld.

Stepping motor provides smooth and near-silent autofocus that pairs with an inner focusing design for quick performance. The AF system is also compatible with Lumix cameras' high-speed contrast-detection systems for focusing speeds up to 240 fps.

Splash and dust-resistant design benefits working in inclement weather conditions.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm produces a smooth out-of-focus quality when working with shallow depth of field techniques.

[Autofocus] For me the 14-140 range is great for a lot of my photography. The close focus range is good for my flower photography. For me this is the lens that should come with the Lumix G95. B&H did a great job.

[Yes] I was hesitant to buy this lens because of its age, plus not being professional level quality like a Leica lens would be. I'm glad I pulled the trigger and purchased this lens.

Many times I would leave my camera at home because I didn't want to carry around a bunch of different lenses, or carry a large telephoto lens around. With this lens, you get the smaller size, but also a nice range of focal lengths for general purpose use.

Outdoor use is where this lens shines the most where it can get ample sunlight. My camera is a Panasonic GH6. Dual OIS works just fine with this lens and makes handheld shooting an absolute pleasure. The higher aperture of this lens doesn't bother me at all either. Dynamic Range Boost on the GH6 requires higher ISO, plus I don't really care about shallow depth of field for my work, which is mostly videography of birds. (The natural background detail is as important as my subjects to me)

Most of my video work is shot in the F8 to F11 Aperture range, although I have not noticed any obvious quality degradation at lower or higher apertures. I will leave the critiquing to the professional level users. If you're shooting recreationally and uploading YT videos, this lens will not disappoint.

There are many great camera moments we miss because we don't want to lug around a lot of bulky gear. This lens embraces the true spirit of MFT.

[58 mm (Front)] Very useful lens, and surprisingly sharp throughout its focal range.
Compact and lightweight, which is what you need from a walkaround lens.
Good reach at 140mm, seems also quite bright compared to other ultrazooms I have.
IS works very well, can shoot indoors fully zoomed at very low speeds without a problem.

Build quality is also very good, smooth zoom and focus rings, and overall feels solid; the dust and splash proof is a great bonus (especially the dust!).
Great lens, worth every penny.

[Autofocus] Although it is not quite a sharp as the Leica 12-60 F2.8-4 lens, the 14-140 mm (28-280 FF equivalent) makes it a much better choice when it is the only lens you are going to take with you.
This 14-140 is the one and only lens that goes on my GX-9 for all my usual travel photography. It is a small, light package that has ibis and takes excellent pictures. A pair of photos showing what 10x range really means for travel pics. Taken at the same location, view and time (Barbados).

[5.7 x 4.8 x 4"] This Gen II lens makes for a great all-in-one lens if you want to only take one camera/lens out for shooting. It's true to the early Micro 4/3's mandate in providing a lens capable of capturing wonderful images in a small, compact, light package. Yes, it's better suited to bright outdoor shooting (or inside with good light), but for the size, weight and image quality, worth the compromise for it's relatively small aperture range. All-in-all, a wonderful lens and highly recommended!

[f/3.5 to 5.6] The Panasonic 14-140mm lens has a range that's hard to beat. It's optical stabilization works together with the stabilization in-body. It's a very sharp lens.

[0.25x] I am frequently assigned run and gun style documentary shoots for the county for whom I work and this lens functions and performs well for that purpose. Most of the time my assignments do not give me ample prep time to know what shots I will need and the variable focal lengths this lens has allows me to capture footage perfectly for subjects whose actions and movements I am unable to anticipate. This lens has never let me down and I find myself using it most of the time with my Panasonic GH5s. Since the majority of my shots take place outside in bright sunlight I use this lens in conjunction with a variable neutral density filter, giving me perfect control over exposure 100% of the time. It's lightweight and perfect for my needs.

[f/3.5 to 5.6] This should be the standard kit lens. It's small for its range, light, and makes great pictures. Dual stabilization on stabilized Panasonic bodies means I get clean images at low ISO, that I totally did not expect to get. The weather sealing has worked in all kinds of weather. Mounted on a GX85, it feels good in the hand. It is the one, go-anywhere-prepared lens in the Lumix range. I cannot complain about the price, even. Other system's wide range zooms are either modest performers, or heavy and expensive to get good performance. This lens does well, and you pay for it. If it weren't for this lens I would have ditched Micro Four Thirds (or any mirrorless system) already, just from being tired of lens changes. It very nearly replaces the kit 12-32, 40-150 lenses for the GX85 kit, so you can stop changing lenses so much. I honestly don't understand why some other zoom lenses in the Lumix range even exist, with this one being so good.

Cons are pretty obvious-

You may choose to swap it for an ultrawide sometimes. 14mm is not wide enough for lots of travel or nature situations.

Small for its range, it's still not a small lens. In my dreams, it would retract like the 12-32, so it would be far easier to carry.

Works best with an add-on hand grip for a rangefinder body. This lets you carry it in hand and still relax your grip a bit.

The hood helps a lot when shooting into sunlit water, but the lens does loose contrast in that scenario, where strong light is coming from multiple directions.

Not bright enough for low light shots without motion blur, without boosting ISO.
