The black Countryman B3 Omni Lavalier Mic for Zaxcom Wireless Transmittersis a water-resistant, miniature lavalier microphone for capturing high-quality audio. It can be used in a variety of applications such as a tie-clip lavalier in interviews, a hair-hidden mic for drama, a water-resistant mic for water sports and hurricane reporting, or simply a small mic to hide in a prop flower vase.

The capsule is resistant to moisture, which allows for placement in the hair or on bare skin, and its omnidirectional polar pattern minimizes handling noise, wind noise, and plosives (popping). Furthermore, a variety of skin-matching colors are available. The B3's cable terminates to a LEMO 3-pin connector for direct connection to a Zaxcom wireless bodypack transmitter. Additionally, a carrying case, a windscreen, two cable clips, and three protective caps are also included.

Looks great when you want to see it, virtually disappears when you don't. The B3 is easily hidden in hair or on costumes, with five colors to match clothing, hair, and skin tones. Use a felt tip marker to color the white caps for near-perfect concealability. Never suffer the hassle and degraded sound quality of under-clothing miking again.

The B3 is resistant to makeup, sweat, and moisture when used with the supplied protective caps and works well in hair or on the body. The protective caps are easily removed for cleaning or replacement, and the aramid-reinforced cable gives it world-class survivability.

The B3 provides high-quality audio with low distortion at SPLs up to 150 dB on 48V phantom power. The aramid cable and thin diaphragm combine to offer low handling noise. The flat-frequency response accurately captures voice or instruments, and the small size makes the B3 easy to position for ambient noise and feedback rejection.

Changeable protective caps let you shape the frequency response for different situations or to match other microphones. Versions are available for different speaking or singing styles, with high-overload capability for recording instruments.

Standard, for most uses.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this mic work on Sony and Sennheiser packs?

A: No it will not. If you have a Sony wireless system then you have to get the COS 11D that says for Sony. The same is true for Sennheiser if you have a Sennheiser system you have to get the one that says for Sennheiser. The two are wired differently. The Sanken is an fantastic lav so make sure you get the right one.

Q: 3. Which Sanken COS-11D to get for use with a Rodelink Filmaker?

A: This model Sanken COS- 11D will work with the Rode Fimmaker Kit wireless transmitter. The models with "Sennheiser locking 3.5mm connection" are appropriate.

Q: 4. Is it possible to get an additional hot shoe attachment?

A: The XSW-D hot shoe mount for the receiver is available as a separate part through Sennheiser. You can reach Sennheiser by phone at (877) 736-6434.

Q: 5. Would this work plugged into a zoom H1 or the RDELink wireless set? They have versions for each specific transmitter, but wondering how compatible the mic is.

A: Unfortunately this mic is not compatible with the RodeLink wireless system. In addition using the mic with devices other than the specified Sennheiser wireless transmitter is not guaranteed to operate and not recommended. Sanken does not currently offer a mic designed to be used with portable digital recorders via 3.5mm jack.

Q: 6. Hello B&H .. Any of this sanken connector models(white color) work with Lectrosonics SSM?Thanks.

A: This Sanken mic will work with your Lectrosonics SSM transmitter:Sanken COS-11D Omni Lavalier Mic, Normal Sens, Hardwired LEMO 3-Pin Connector for Sennheiser Wireless Transmitters (No Accessories, White) B&H # SAC11ANSEL3W

Q: 7. How does one judge the quality of audio relayed from transmitter to receiver? Wondering in context of wanting to connect a field recorder (using stereo mini jack) to TX unit

A: Usually the first thing we look at is frequency response, which is how low (bass) and high (treble) it can produce. Typically 20 Hz to 20 kHz is considered full frequency response. The frequency response on this system is 80 Hz to 18 kHz, which is really not bad considering that the human voice is not going to get down any where near 20 Hz, and when you experience background noise it manifests in the lower frequencies, and you would engage a HPF (High Pass Filter) to eliminate the lower frequencies. We'll also take into consideration the SPL (Sound Pressure Level) that the microphone can handle before distorting. The mic that comes with this system can handle 120 dB SPL, which is very good. Another consideration is latency, which is how long it takes for the signal to travel from transmitter to receiver, and this system has less than 4 millisecond latency, which is imperceptible.

Q: 8. Can I use a dongle and use with my Iphone 12?

A: Yes, you can connect the Sennheiser XSW-D Portable Lavalier Set Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Microphone System to the iPhone 12. There are a few options for connection using adapters or a dedicated Lightning cable. You can use a cable like the Sennheiser CL 35 TRRS Locking 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRRS Coiled Cable (B&H # SECL35TRRS) combined with the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APLAADAP) or as a single-cable option, you can use the Comica Audio Locking 3.5mm TRS Male to Lightning Adapter Cable for Wireless Receiver to iPhone (B&H # COCVMDLSPXMI), or the Saramonic LC-C35 Locking 3.5mm Connector to Apple-Certified Lightning Output Cable (B&H # SALCC35).

Q: 9. Does this microphone come with an XLR cable? If no, what cable will I need to connect it to Canon XA40 Professional UHD 4K Camcorder?

A: It does not come with an XLR cable. You can either go into the 3.5mm mic input on the Canon XA40 Professional UHD 4K or use get this cable to use the XLR input. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1145659-REG/kopul_rsmxm_01_stereo_1_8_mini_male.html

Q: 10. I've plugged this in to my recorder via the Senal PS-48B-35H Phantom Power Supply that's listed as a recommended accessory for this mic, with 48V phantom power turned on. However, I'm getting a very very low signal from the microphone, peaking at around -32Db even with the gain on my recorder turned all the way up. Did I get a dud or is there something I've missed here?

A: So you checked the gain, have you checked the fader? Is their a pad setting switched on the recorder or the Senal? My last suggestion is to check the voltage of LR44 batteries. Maybe they're about dead. Try switching to providing phantom power from the recorder.

[0.485 lb] Very good in general - great for the cost. The B3 pairs well with the Senheisser G3 wireless packs. It sounds better than 'starter' mics like the ME2. Sanken sounds a bit better but costs a lot more. I think the B3 is in the sweet spot for moderate budget TV and film. The capsule tips included help shape the sound.

[0.485 lb] I have a Sony wireless lav and have gone through 2 Sony lavs due to the poor design of the cable going into the connector. Talked to a B&H audio consultant on the phone and she suggested the B3. Definitely seems to be a lot stronger at the connector.

[0.485 lb] I like the flexibility of this product in that it enables varied positioning. All that's needed is tape specifically designed for attachment to skin and in my case the upper cheek of my face. It has clear sound and is comfortable to wear.
