Designed to cover the VistaVision frame, the Leitz Prime 35mm Lens features a stainless steel ARRI PL mount and provides the same image characteristics that Leitz is known for. Projecting a usable image circle of 46.5mm in diameter, it is compatible with virtually any camera with a PL lens port, and an optional PL to LPL adapter will allow you to use the lens with the ARRI ALEXA LF and LF Mini. The T1.8 maximum aperture is consistent among the range except for the 180mm, so there is no concern about exposure variations when cutting between the lenses in the set, other than the 180mm. Each lens incorporates geared focus and iris control rings which share the same position among every lens in the set, so swapping lenses can be done without having to adjust your follow focus or lens control system.

The lens features an internal focus design with a durable cam-follower mechanism which provides the lens with a non-rotating front, perfect for clip-on matte boxes. A generous number of focus marks are distributed along the focus scales, and 270° of focus rotation makes for accurate focus pulls. The 114mm diameter front is standard across the set of lenses, which also speeds up lens changes when working with a matte box.

The modern lens design, as well as the cine manufacturing process and tight tolerances, ensure low distortion, high resolution, and excellent color rendition.

The 15-blade iris provides an extremely smooth circular iris, for a natural-looking bokeh.

The 270° of focus rotation allows for extremely accurate focus marks and focus pulls.

Consistency in front diameter, shared focus, and iris ring position from lens to lens in the series allows for faster lens changes requiring less adjustment of matte boxes and lens accessories.

A built-in lens support foot takes the strain off the lens mount, helping to keep the lens in optimal image-taking condition.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can it be used on the Alexa Mini LF?

A: No, the Leitz Cine LPL to PL Mount Adapter is not compatible with the ARRI Alexa Mini LF.

Q: 2. Can I used this lense in Komodo-X ?

A: You would need an M-mount to RF-mount adapter such as the Novoflex Leica M Lens to Canon RF-Mount Camera Adapter (BH #NOEOSRLEM).

Q: 3. I want to use primarily as a cine lens, but also on my M6. How well will this lens work on a rangefinder body especially since the lens has a longer focus throw than the stills version of this lens? Wondering if it would impose any limitations? Has anyone used this lens on a rangefinder body? Thanks

A: Lens will work just like any "M" series unit offering a full frame 35mm coverage. The only difference is this is not a photo lens but an actual cine lens.

Q: 4. Who's the manufacturer of the Leica SL-PL cine mount? Thanks. dan

A: This product is manufactured by Leica.

Q: 5. Why "Feet"?

A: This lens has markings in Feet rather than meters. We do not have this same model available with Metric Markings at this time. So that we may best assist you finding the proper product for your needs feel free to email us directly at askbh@bhphotovideo.com.

Q: 6. Can any of the Leitz Cine Lens mount, without an adapter, to the Leica SL or Leica S still cameras? If not natively, is there an adapter that will allow this.... and with the adapter attached, will it provide full autofocus?

A: To use a PL lens on a camera with a Leica L mount you will need a PL to L Mount Adapter, such as BH #NOLETPL from Novoflex. PL lenses in general are fully manual lenses, there is no auto focus on lenses like this. https://bhpho.to/2Opnqjl

Q: 9. will these lens cover arri mini lf sensor with out darkening circle at t1.5 or t 2?

A: Since the Canon Sumire Prime Lenses cover a full frame (36mm x 24mm) image circle, there will be a slight darkening of the corners at the wides apertures when shooting at 4.5K LF 3:2 Open Gate.

Q: 10. If this is a full frame (36mm image circle lens), will there be a crop factor of 1.27 on Arri Alexa Super 35 sensors?

A: This lens covers super 35mm sensors. If you are using Full Frame as the standard then you will need to account for a crop factor.

[T1.8] I really love this lens. It just stays on the Ursa permanently. Many great directors use the 50mm as a standard (I'm thinking of Ozu), and I've personally always found the 50mm the most versatile focal length. And this lens is superb. I used the Rokinon lenses before this, which I appreciated, but this lens has more character. I really like the long throw, the build quality, and just the creamy look of this lens.

[8.32 lb] I seriously LOVE what these lenses do as an intro set of Cine glass. As a long time Sigma Art series user I didn't realize how much of an upgrade this was going to be from Photo glass. I'm super happy with the money i spent on this and also the 35mm. I will be getting the 24mm and 85mm ASAP!

[35mm] Amazing lens for incredible price

[Large Format] I've used ROKINON lenses which were quite above average. The Sirui anamorphic lens was even better. I just finished my first feature using the Sirui. Now that I just used this Meike FF on my Bmpcc4k for my trailer.... I am just blown away by the depth of field, bokeh and color depth of this lens. The quality, the weight, the build quality is on par to a much more expensive cine lens. This is the range of a 5k plus cine lens. I'm planning on buying the other focal lengths as well

[46.5 mm] B & H delivered my Meike lens on time and in excellent condition. The packaging was great and the lens is perfect. Couldn't be happier!

[T22] The Rokinon/Samyang cine lenses in this price range are basically their photo lenses with cine gears. Nice for starters--I have two of them--but these Meikes are bonafide cine lenses and not much more money. Main differences are less focus breathing and longer focus ring throw. Much easier to nail focus pulls.
