Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does a standard manfrotto plate fit in this head?

A: We're afraid not. This tripod has its own quick release plate system, it is not compatible with Manfrotto plates.

Q: 2. I have some old Bogen/Manffroto telescopic pan arms with rosette clamps. will these fit on the CX series head rosettes? they look similar but my CX6 tripod system hasn't arrived yet so I can't try it...

A: We cant know for certain without knowing the exact model tripod arm however it is usually safe to assume that it will not work. There is no universal standard rosette size/pattern for tripod arms and even Manfrotto/Bogen have a few variations of their rosette arm.

Q: 3. Is the sliding plate interchangeable with the AirAV model?

A: No, the AirV fluid head (#1044) uses the “Versa” camera plate (#1201) The AIR fluid head (#1042) uses the standard camera plate(#1205) However, you could add a receiver onto the AIR that would allow you to use the AirV Versa plate on the AIR Head. Manfrotto 577 Rapid Connect Adapter with Sliding Mounting Plate (501PL) BH #MA577

Q: 4. Does it accept a Manfrotto 501 sliding plate?

A: We're afraid not. This head uses the Miller 1204 style plate. https://bhpho.to/2Use2dY

Q: 5. Will the Miler CX6 fit on Sachtler Flowtech MS 75?

A: Yes, Miller CX series 75mm tripod heads, such as the Miller CX6 Fluid Head are compatible with Sachtler Flowtech MS 75 legs.

Q: 6. Is the 3rd step of drag on the CX6 similar to the 5th step on the CX8 or is it less? Is the difference just fewer steps in-between or is it less drag overall?

A: Comparisons between the drag settings is not something listed by Miller on any head. The key in this case is that the CX8 offers more adjust-ability with 5 steps over 3 steps on the CX6. However we are not aware of a direct comparison between the steps.

Q: 7. does the side mount system in these heads work directly with arri style long dove plates? or will I have to screw it onto the head's proprietary plate?

A: Miller has their own proprietary quick release plate system. You will need to add a dovetail if you intend to use this tripod with Arri standard dovetail mounts.

Q: 8. Does the head come with the quick release plate?

A: The quick release plate would be included.

Q: 9. how wide is the plate?

[Metal Alloy] Buttery smooth pans and tilts. Easy to counter balance. Easy to mount and unmount your camera.

[Metal Alloy] This head is fantastic! It is replacing a 25 year old Vinten Vision 5. While I have loved the Vinten, the infinite adjustable friction has worn out. I love the gears in this one and the 16 step counter balance. Also the Vinten heads only have a range for which they can be counter balanced, like 7 pounds to 14 pounds. This guy can go all the way from zero to 26.4 pounds. That means I can use a heavy camera or a DSLR and still balance the weight. Excellent design!

[Metal Alloy] Purchased in Feb 2022 with the Solo Q 100mm sticks. My previous tripod was a Vinten 5LF. I loved the Vinten, but with lighter cameras I no longer needed a head that could hold 40 lbs or more. The CX10 holds from 0 to 26 pounds and the 16 steps of counter balance and 5 levels of friction in both directions make for the perfect tool. I use both a Canon cinema camera and a Canon ENG camera on this tripod. No matter which camera or lens, I get remarkably smooth moves. And the CX10 / SoloQ is very light, about 10 pounds. My old Vinten was 16 to 18 pounds at least. The Carbon fiber legs are stiff and rigid. A wonderful purchase.

[Metal Alloy] This replaced a well know brand fluid head and the difference was night and day. The counter balance is smooth, super easy to use, and convenient top plate loading.

I have no disappointment and am considering the accessory plate.

[Metal Alloy] I needed a second handle, so now I have two on my Compass 15 tripod head. It is easier to control. I like it a lot, but it is very expensive for what it is. It was extremely difficult to remove the plastic cap on the left side of the tripod to allow the handle to attach. Called Miller support mulitple times. Turns out you have to use a steel rod and hit it out with a hammer!! Crazy!! For such a delicate piece of superb engineering, it seems crazy to HIT it with a HAMMER!! But it worked.

[Metal Alloy] I purchased the Miller CX10 Fluid Head specifically for use with a Sony A7iii and Sony 200-600 G zoom lens in a rig weighing about 13 pounds. I use this setup as a moving camera for closeups in concerts. It's important to have smooth action with (near) perfect balance. The CX10 meets all of my need and expectations. It is also compact, rugged, and very easy to adjust. It is a true fluid head, so adjusting the drag is easy, since you aren't working against spring tension found in friction heads. The counterbalance is also easy to adjust, without undue resistance. I can point it to any position and let go of the handle without sag and very little springback. Hold for just a second or two, and the springback disappears.

[Metal Alloy] Heavy, sleek and quality head throughout. At maximum, Im sporting about an 18lb camera package, so Im well below the load rating. But the head feels really solidly built, pans are smooth with no kickback at the tails, tilt range is muy bueno. The counterbalance setup takes a little getting used to, but does what its supposed to do very well. Curious to see how well the CB system will hold up over time, as the click-in settings may wear down the control knob over the years. Its a tiny thing, but I like the thoughtful design touch of having a home for spare mount screws. For anyone concerned about only 3 steps of drag settings, dont be. You get used to the setting range almost immediately, and for the most part all the hoopla about 5+ steps is pure nonsense. All in all, pretty solid selection for my particular needs.
