Designed to cover the VistaVision frame, the Leitz Cine Prime 50mm Lens PL Mount Feetfeatures a stainless steel ARRI PL mount and provides the same image characteristics that Leitz is known for. Projecting a usable image circle of 46.5mm in diameter, it is compatible with virtually any camera with a PL lens port, and an optional PL to LPL adapter will allow you to use the lens with the ARRI ALEXA LF and LF Mini. The T1.8 maximum aperture is consistent among the range except for the 180mm, so there is no concern about exposure variations when cutting between the lenses in the set, other than the 180mm. Each lens incorporates geared focus and iris control rings which share the same position among every lens in the set, so swapping lenses can be done without having to adjust your follow focus or lens control system.

The lens features an internal focus design with a durable cam-follower mechanism which provides the lens with a non-rotating front, perfect for clip-on matte boxes. A generous number of focus marks are distributed along the focus scales, and 270° of focus rotation makes for accurate focus pulls. The 114mm diameter front is standard across the set of lenses, which also speeds up lens changes when working with a matte box.

The modern lens design, as well as the cine manufacturing process and tight tolerances, ensure low distortion, high resolution, and excellent color rendition.

The 15-blade iris provides an extremely smooth circular iris, for a natural-looking bokeh.

The 270° of focus rotation allows for extremely accurate focus marks and focus pulls.

Consistency in front diameter, shared focus, and iris ring position from lens to lens in the series allows for faster lens changes requiring less adjustment of matte boxes and lens accessories.

A built-in lens support foot takes the strain off the lens mount, helping to keep the lens in optimal image-taking condition.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can the Xenon handle S35 sensors at 8k?

A: Yes... I have a Red Epic-W with 8K Helium SensorPerfect picture

Q: 2. The Red Weapon Helium s35 8K FF has a 33.8mm image circle. If the Leica Summicron C 18mm has a 36mm image circle do we loose any of the image when using this lens on this camera?

A: You are correct on the numbers of both image circles. Since all that is needed is a lens image circle that is bigger than the sensor image circle, you are good to go in this instance.

Q: 3. Do these lenses cover full frame ? Or just super 35 sensor? Will they work with Alexa LF sensor?

A: These lenses only cover super 35 sensors. They will not cover the Alexa LF sensor.

Q: 4. Country of origin?,Germany?dr asok

A: The COUNTRY OF ORIGIN is GERMANY.

Q: 5. Can i mount to lumix S1H ? Is it proper cine lens ?

A: To mount the Leitz Cine lens to the S1H, you will need a Leica M to Leica L Adapter. The Leitz Cine lens series is a proper cinema lens.

Q: 6. Will this PL Mount lens work with the RED PL mount fixture?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 7. Will the image circle on this lens cover a standard full frame sensor?

A: No, only the THALIA, M 0.8, Leitz Prime, and Leitz Zoom lenses cover a full frame sensor. Full frame sensors require lenses with an image circle of around 43mm.

Q: 8. Does the design of this 18mm come with floating elements to optimize the close focus? Thanks.

A: The Leitz Cine 18mm T2.0 Summicron-C Lens (PL Mount, Marked in Feet) has a minimum focus distance of 1 foot or 0.3 meters.

Q: 9. Can any of the Leitz Cine Lens mount, without an adapter, to the Leica SL or Leica S still cameras? If not natively, is there an adapter that will allow this.... and with the adapter attached, will it provide full autofocus?

A: To use a PL lens on a camera with a Leica L mount you will need a PL to L Mount Adapter, such as BH #NOLETPL from Novoflex. PL lenses in general are fully manual lenses, there is no auto focus on lenses like this. https://bhpho.to/2Opnqjl

Q: 10. If this is a full frame (36mm image circle lens), will there be a crop factor of 1.27 on Arri Alexa Super 35 sensors?

A: This lens covers super 35mm sensors. If you are using Full Frame as the standard then you will need to account for a crop factor.

[T1.8] I have all 3 of the available PL mount versions of these lenses. I used on 2 proffesional shoots and WOW WOW WOW - I still cant get over the IQ for the price but with only 1 gripe---lets get out of way-- (no focus marks on AC side) not a big deal using FF on op side typically or remote FF if I have an AC so its not really an issue) If you are looking here you like consider the DZO Vespid line. TRUE they have a full set. However they have a very vintage look with oval bokeh and bad CA(on a few focal lengths) Those are smaller lighter and MARGNIALLY sharper true) however these lens have very little CA very little if any breathing depending on FL- propper full 330 rotation on focus, they are bigger but still small- However dont look SILLY on my RED like the Vespids do. I cant say this enough MEIKE hit a homerun here and I have ZERO regrets. Just wish the whole set was already available (24mm coming end of NOV 21) ---you cant go wrong here.

[112 mm] This lens is my bread and butter. For all of my client work I need something with a consistent look across the entire aperture range. Up until purchasing this lens my primary client glass was a sigma 24-70 2.8, which although beautiful, got soft when zoomed in to 50mm and under performed in other areas.

Aside from the performance of this lens, there are two things I adore: It's construction and color consistency. Despite being incredibly light, this lens is built like a tank. I travel frequently and it holds up very well. Because Zeiss improved the color rendition in the CP.3 line, I often rent the 85 or 100mm for my b-cam and have a easy time matching up cameras.

Much of my client work requires cropping in substantially (thanks Instagram) and I can comfortably shoot this at it's minimum aperture of T2.1 for a tack sharp image that can be scaled up in post.

I think this lens' greatest competition is the Canon CN-E line, which shoots warm and renders terrible onion skinning on the bokeh. For me this is unforgivable, and I'm happy to see a neutral, clean image coming from the CP.3 line. Assuming this is the look you need, I'm not sure you can get a better lens in this price bracket.

[8.03 lb] I really love this lens. It just stays on the Ursa permanently. Many great directors use the 50mm as a standard (I'm thinking of Ozu), and I've personally always found the 50mm the most versatile focal length. And this lens is superb. I used the Rokinon lenses before this, which I appreciated, but this lens has more character. I really like the long throw, the build quality, and just the creamy look of this lens.

[46.5 mm] I actually purchased the 24, 50 and 85 version of this lens. This thing is built like a tank. Picture quality is beautiful and works great with our Z Cam E2 F6.

[T1.8] I've used ROKINON lenses which were quite above average. The Sirui anamorphic lens was even better. I just finished my first feature using the Sirui. Now that I just used this Meike FF on my Bmpcc4k for my trailer.... I am just blown away by the depth of field, bokeh and color depth of this lens. The quality, the weight, the build quality is on par to a much more expensive cine lens. This is the range of a 5k plus cine lens. I'm planning on buying the other focal lengths as well

[T22] Love how this lens renders colors. It leans more to the warms side which I like a lot. The focus throw is a bit longer than I'm use to, but It will take some time getting use to as solo operator. My first AC is fine with it. It's a very sharp lens wide open. Flares are okay, wish it flare with a circular or onion ring tho. Overall good lens for the price, I will try out the 24mm and 35mm. I hope they matched with the 16mm in terms of colors. I have seen reviews where they say the line up doesn't match. I hope they fixed that issue.
