A: The XLR-1/4" combo jack is not shown in the photos we have posted. It is located on the back of the speaker, on the lower right side. [Active 2-Way] Using the speakers for house music production where low end is very important. Coming from a pair of KRKs that were really lacking in the low range, I am extremely pleased with the Mackies. They are quite large, bigger than I expected but look really nice. They can go quite loud with ease and work great at lower level providing a nice deepness and soft sound. The tweeters sounded a bit odd to me at first but now I think I have already adapted. There are multiple settings in the back that allow you to adjust to the level you are most comfortable with. Overall a great product and received less than two days after I ordered it!

[10 W (Maximum)] These should be on your list for consideration.

I've been using them for audio and video projects and very pleased with their sonic quality and accuracy. I've used KRKs in other editing rooms and always impressed with the sound. The price point along with B&H customer service are the main reasons why I made the purchase!

[Single Monitor] 22 years ago an audio rep at B&H helped me build my first recording studio. I didn't know enough then to realize how stellar the recommendations that were made were. In early 2022 I decided to do an entire upgrade to my studio, from computers to software etc. One of the original recommendations for monitors were the original Mackie HR824's. They are used as near field monitors. One of the amps on one monitor blew out. So I found my self on a search. I went through the usual suspects. Almost went for the Yamaha's but at the end of the day, i purchased 2 brand new Mackie HR8242. I can't believe they are even better than the originals. Clean, crisp, and flat, every mix sounds as its supposed to, in the studio, on my beats, in my car, on the phone, and on the web. They really are just spectacular monitors. Well worth the price of admission without a doubt.

[1067 Hz] I've been a long-time user of the original HR824s. When it came time to update, there was no question where I would go. The new mk2s are, in a word, sweet and I look forward to enjoying them for many years to come. Crisp and deep. Like those before, they don't tire my ears when listening for hours (I host and produce radio programs and music projects in my home studio). Thank you Mackie.

[Vertical] If you need a passive near field studio monitor a little like Yamaha NS10s but with a nicer sound these are your babies! They have low distortion and a really nice high end and not harsh but also retain a very workable low end which makes mixing a breeze. I use them everyday as a mixer in Los Angeles.

[1067 Hz] The large KH420 as well as its junior brother, the KH310, create a remarkably clean sound. They are scientifically designed by real audio engineers in Germany and offer the recording engineer or producer an extremely accurate sound. (What else would you expect from Neumann?) They are tri-amped speakers with very sharp digital 24db/octave crossovers The electronics (3 channels per speaker) are built in. All the speakers need is a line level, balanced input, such as you can easily get from the likes of a Grace m920 or M905, or just board out. The KH420's are designed for normal listening at a distance of 5 to 10 feet. The smaller KH310's do just as well sonically but they are intended to be closer to the listener's ears, say 3-5 ft. as they would be sitting on a console's meter section. The commenter has a pair of EACH of the speakers, so he knows first hand what he is describing. They are simply the very, very finest speaker systems I have heard in over 50 years of critical listening. They are pure gold. They are just super delicious to hear. Toss your hifi speakers out the window and upgrade to these very professional speaker systems. They are worth every penny, and you will never regret buying them. Just be certain you have an extremely clean signal to feed to them. Any sonic defects in source material will instantly be revealed. Not for the faint of heart!

[Single Monitor] I must admit, I've been using Prolinear 720's, which was all I could afford at the time. And with the help of a BIG KNOB, I was able to have both sets of monitors connected simultaneously. So, I opened a DAW file with the Prolinear's active...got a good hot volume level...then punched in the HR's... You figure you pay a certain amount for a pair of speakers, they better sound good...well, sound good they did! I can't really articulate the awe of that moment...saying I was blown away is not a strong enough expression. I have to say, after the initial shock...and switching the source back and fouth...my Prolinear's sounded like they were playing under water... The HR's give me confidence in saying I have a recording studio! I must admit, I've only been using the HR's for about a month and I still have yet to acclimate my ears to them to produce multi-device friendly mixes...but I can't imagine a more enjoyable way to get there! I'd like to add that some reviews I read before I got the HR's listed their 35 lb weight per speaker as a CON...honestly, I can't imagine a speaker lighter than these putting out like the HR's...not a CON as far as I'm concerned...I'd be likely to attribute the weight to some very intentional quality components... The sound of the HR's is just absolutely amazing! Incredible low end capacity and a -2db and +2db switch for the Hi's...

[1067 Hz] I've owned a pair of the original HR824s for six years now and have used them daily. I purchased three HR824mk2's to make a 5.1 system for monitoring and entertainment. I use the original HR824s as the surrounds. The sound is nearly identical to my ears. The bass below 80Hz might be tighter, but that's the only sonic difference I can tell. The new look will probably appeal to most folks with the nice gloss black finish. I still like the old vinyl laminate for no other reason than familiarity. The rear panel is identical to the HR824 so there is no learning curve for owners of the old monitors. If an HR824mk3 is released, I would not hesitate to purchase a setup six more years down the road.
