The Vinten FHR-155 Robotic VR Head 22-Bit Encoderis a fully functional robotic head. Suitable for studio or remote work, the head is nearly silent and supports up to 155 pounds. It features built-in 22-bit encoders that output precise information for incorporating the head's movements into VR shots. It has a cradle to adjust the center of gravity and balance of your camera on the head for best results. The head features accurate and highly repeatable motion control of the camera as well as compatible Canon and Fujinon servo-controlled lenses.

The head can tilt a total of 100° (50° down and 50° up), and can pan 359°. The built-in 3-port Ethernet switch simplifies integration with robotic pedestals and IP prompting equipment. Mounting the head on a tripod or pedestal requires an optional mounting adapter.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How smooth are the pan and tilt movements? Do they ramp up and down, can they be used "on air"?

A: On page 34 of the user manual, the PTR 10 Remote Head is extremely smooth and is able to pan between 0.2–15° / sec and tilt between 0.1–10° / sec. There are 50 PAN/TILT preset positions and you will be able to adjust the pan and tilt acceleration, speed, and torque. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/640738.pdf

Q: 2. What are the key differences between this and the FH-145 S2?

A: The S1 has one drag level with settings, The S2 has a total of three levels with settings.

Q: 3. Is the tie down (bottom bowl clamp) thread on the blue5 M10, or 3/8 ?

A: We were able to determine it is not 3/8 .

Q: 4. Can this be controlled with an iPhone?

A: No, the PTR-10 MARK II can be controlled by the included IR controller, VISCA protocol controller, Datavideo RMC-180 Camera controller, RMC-300A Universal Remote-Control Panel, and compatible with DVIP over Ethernet and other integration solutions such as Crestron.

Q: 5. Can this be controlled by software only? Looking to use an elGato Stream Deck with the "Companion" app from BitFocus (which supports Sony, Panasonic and PTZOptics via Visca)

A: This head can be controlled via visca and if the app/software that you are using will provide standard Visca protocols it should also work on this product

Q: 6. Is the tripod plate on this head by chance compatible with the RH25D or RH45D Libec Heads? Or Vice Versa?

A: There are no reports of that being possible. Hopefully, someone has these two heads and can test them.

Q: 7. Does this support Visca over IP or only serial ?

A: The Datavideo PTR-10 MK II Robotic Pan Tilta Head (DVIP) will support "pan and tilt operations via VISCA, DVIP, RS-422, or an included IR remote control", "(Control Unit via IP, IR Remote, or VISCA)".

Q: 8. I have a PTR-10T Mk II, but am missing the 12V 5A power adapter. How can I purchase one?

A: While the manufacturer does not provide the adapter for sale separately, there are two ways to power the Datavideo PTR-10T Mark II Robotic Pan and Tilt Head (HDBaseT) (B&H# DAPTR10TMKII). The unit will accept a 12VDC barrel input of 3A, although 5A will be needed if power will be drawn from the D-Tap port on the head for the purpose of powering a camera. You may wish to contact the manufacturer regarding their preferred model of adapter: sales@datavideo.com Alternatively, the head will accept Power Over Ethernet (PoE) with the power being fed through the LAN port by a source of PoE such as the TP-Link TL-POE170S PoE++ Injector (Black) (B&H# TPTLPOE170S): https://bhpho.to/3POMj5c

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the Proaim Heavy-Duty Mitchell Base Tripod Legs?

A: Yes. Both the tripod and the Vinten V3996-0001 Vector 950 Head will support the Mitchell flat base mount.

Q: 10. Can this PTZ head zoom following sony camcorders: - Sony HXR-NX5U - Sony HDR-FX1000

A: Yes, Both the SONY HDR-FX1000 and the NX5U support lanc control and would be supported on the Datavideo PTR-10 PTZ head. Page 20 has all the tested cameras listed. https://bit.ly/3BsM76D

[250 VAC, 3.15 A] I've had this head for over twenty years. Sorry B&H but it wasn't purchased from you, although all the other Vinten products I have were bought from you. Why is this head the only one in the Vinten range with the extraordinary TF drag design? All their other general use heads have LF drag, which is pretty much the same as everyone else has used from the days when Robert Miller patented his viscosity drag design. I now have a couple of the 75mm bowl Vision Blue heads on my lovely Flowtech legs which are very good, but they don't perform anywhere near as precisely and smoothly as my decades old Vision 100. The only way this head could be improved would be to have the amazing new Sachtler Aktiv bowl adjustment system. Come on Vinten/Vitec, you own just about every tripod brand going anyway. Why can't you combine this clever Sachtler design with the best fluid head on the market? Is brand separation that important to you? Be like ARRI, not like Rupert.

[250 VAC, 3.15 A] A true broadcast quality ENG fluid head.... as smooth and strong as they come. Nothing can beat or surpass it in tilt/pan movement or build quality.

[IP Ethernet] The counter-balance system works silky smooth. I would recommend this tripod video head to anyone who wants their video pans & tilts to be smooth.

[22-Bit] Man am I blown away at how great this head is! Vinten's Perfet Balance system really does work as intended and is a real joy to use. It's super easy to rebalance after a lens change and takes no time at all. I've never used a properly counterbalanced head until now...what was I waiting for? Even with a roughly 600mm lens I'm able to attain perfectly smooth, controlled pans with minimal, if any backlash. I doubt tracking people or animals with a telephoto lens would be an issue at all. Just make sure you have a solid tripod! All and all I'm extremely happy with this head and it's sure to last me a very very long time.

[IP Ethernet] I've always liked Vinten tripods and heads, and this new Vision Blue is one more to like. It's solidly built, pans and tilts smoothly and it is easy to achieve balance. This head is a perfect match for our Panasonic HMC 150 and HPX 170 camcorders - and I feel it would comfortably support a larger-form camera as well. And as a plus, there's the price: This head performs like a much more expensive one.
