The PortaBrace Polar Bear Cover for Sony PXW-FS7M2has been designed to keep your camera warm in cold weather. It features a black nylon fabric exterior and high-loft insulation. The interior lining is made from a phase-change material that helps keep warm air in and cold air out. Interior hook-and-loop fabric allows you to arrange optional air-activated hand warmers that keep your camera warm and operable even down to -50°F.

Three integrated zippers allow you to slip the cover on the camera, and the bottom zipper can snug around the tripod plate, helping to keep the camera warm while on a tripod. You can use the cover on a handheld or tripod-mounted camera, and it supports the use of a matte box, though you can use it just as effectively without a matte box on your lens. Two hand openings allow you to manually manipulate the lens with either hand, and a third hand opening provides access to the camera's viewfinder. The hand openings feature cotton cuffs to help keep your hands warm.

[Sony PXW-FS7 II] Crushes the Sony version like a grape. The Sony Mark 2 handle is an improvement over the original FS7 handle but still left we wanting more flexibility.
The arm length extension slipped from day one out of the box and would not tighten. Loosening the rosette screw to move from a tripod mounted position (rear facing) to a handheld position (front facing) is time consuming, you missed shots. The Shape red button is one push and the rotation happens. The extension arm no longer slips with the shape handle so a win all around. The only note is the silver barrel that the red button is located on sticks out from the camera quite a bit. Not a problem while shooting but I have a pre-cut Jason hard case for my camera and it sticks out too far to place it in the case while attached. Small price to pay for the improved functionality while using the camera.

[Sony PXW-FS7 II] One of those purchases that you will know it if you need it, total specialty item. Purchased this for filming skiing and snowboarding in the backcountry with lots of exposure to fresh powder and cold temps. This cover is great to keep moisture and snow away from the camera and utilizing hand-warmer inserts to keep both your hand warm on the hand grip as well as the battery area and camera in general. The fleece lined hand openings are fantastic. The Velcro is bombproof, but does require two hands to open some flaps, so if one hand in inside holding the side grip, you may have to pull it out to use both hands to open a flap to hit other buttons. Short lenses with manual aperture can be challenging to adjust as the lens opening part of the cover might be cinched around it and you have to make sure if pulling manual focus that the lens opening is not impeding that area of the lens as well. Plenty of openings and slots to allow external monitors and mounts, plus shotgun mics to be operated while using this cover. Between some shots I would ski while holding this cover and FS5 inside using a generic camera neck strap and the lens sticking out with a regular lens cap - instead I would prefer to get a soft cover lens cap that protects the entire lens from any snow pickup while on the move - that's about using the cover as a complete package and nothing to do with the cover alone. I'd buy it again.

[Sony PXW-FS7 II] I bought this same arm for my original Sony FS7 and it worked flawlessly for four years. It did not let me down once, even when I was using heavy lenses like the Fujinon Cabrios and the Cannon 17-120.

I was so impressed that I bought one for my AMIRA and it has given the same results. Just perfect.

I was thrilled to learn that this model, made for the FS7 mkii fits perfectly on my new FX9. I couldn’t be happier with the quality and customer service from Shape.

[Black] I love the speed of adjusting--push button release to rotate, but no play when it locks in. It does offset the handgrip a bit to the right making it take up a bit more space in a bag or case while attached. You can adjust the handle a bit to the right or left in your initial setup using a hex wrench at the attachment to the silver post. I had to move it far to the right to give clearance for my knuckles not to hit a locking lever when I'm rotating it. Thus even more offset to the right--not ideal but worth the trade-off. I like this model better than the one that can work with both the FS7 Mk 1 and Mk2. The ergonomics are much better for grasping the extension arm while simultaneously pressing the button with with the thumb of the same hand. For me this is a bod deal--for me the other one has inferior ergonomics for either model. This one does require some disassembly of the original extension to interface, but worth it. Note-it appears to be some plastic in use including on the rosette, but seems to be really tough stuff that shouldn't break in normal use. At least the plastic rosette would not need frequent adjusting since the whole point is the push button adjust.

[3.405 lb] Excellent Rain Cover from Porta Brace. Used with my Sony FX9 with a V-mount battery on the back. Perfect fit. Camera is still easy to operate.

[Black] This one accessory makes a world of difference when operating the FS7M2. Not only is the ability to change the angle of the arm/handle DRAMATICALLY faster, but you can also set a much higher angle than with the stock arm which only lets you go exactly level with the camera and no higher. This is important for 2 reasons. 1, sometimes it's nice to be able to set the arm higher for a variety of reasons while operating to get the most comfortable position. But also, any time you want to set the camera on the ground for a rest, you can actually get the handle out of the way super easy, instead of virtual impossible like with the stock handle. May seem simple, but is worth every penny of the price.

[Sony PXW-FS7 II] I used this slicker for shots in the rain and it works great! There is access to the controls through a clear plastic film, and overall it fits nice. My camera and microphone stayed protected throughout my shooting.
