Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you wear liners underneath these?

A: It already has a thin insulation liner but you can wear liners underneath. It does fit depending on how thick your liners are but may just be bulky and not give you as much dexterity.

Q: 2. Do these include the liners?

A: Yes, the liners are integrated with the glove.

Q: 3. What are the loops for on the fingers. I can’t figure this out

A: The Heat Company Heat 2 Softshell Mittens/Gloves (Size 7, Black) incorporate loops for easy pull-off.

Q: 4. Any reports of the magnets in mittens causing issues with cameras or memory cards (since this question was last asked in 2021)?

A: We don't have reports of magnets in mittens causing issues with cameras or memory cards. Personally, I use a similar mitten with magnets and I never had any issue.

Q: 5. Will these "The Heat Company Polartec Merino Glove Liners" liners fit the Heat Company Softshell 2 Mittens/Gloves?

A: Yes the Polartec Merino Glove Liner is compatible with the Heat Company Softshell 2 Mittens/Gloves.

Q: 6. Is the liner separate from the mitten, so that the liner can be used by itself, or is the mitten & liner a single piece?

A: The liner is separate and can be used on it's own if you want.

Q: 7. 1. Will a liner glove work with these or too tight? 2. Do they have pouch for hand warmers?

A: The Heat Company Heat 2 Softshell Mittens/Gloves have a Thinsulate insulation.and are not designed to be used with a liner, butt one will fit under the glove. There is a zippered pocket for hand warmers, Keys or cash.

Q: 8. This question is in relation to my previous question about water repellency. I don't really care how repellent they are; my question is "Will they keep your hands warm if they are soaking wet?" My hands will get wet because I dip my hands completely underwater to grab things. Wool gloves retain warmth even if wet, but they take a long time to dry, and they don't have e-tips. I assume Polartec will dry much faster, but will they retain heat while they are still wet, like wool does?

A: It is better than no gloves using the The Heat Company Polartec Wind Pro Liner Gloves. But like most, once your hands eventually get wet they will get cold at some point.

Q: 9. Is this the same model that the Heat Company's website lists as the Merino Liner Pro?

A: Yes they are the same model as shown on the manufacturer's website.

Q: 10. Is the thing that hold the fold back velcro or a magnet? In the pictures here it shows velcro but on their site it shows a magnet.

A: Magnets hold the folded-back finger and thumb covers out of the way.

[Polyester] Excellent liner for the shell. Provides good warmth and flexibility.

[Polyester] These liners are warm, well constructed and have a number of desirable features. Touch screen finger tips, sleeves for chemical hand warmers and rings to clip them together/to your pack or gear. I ordered a pair of Heat 2 mittens in a size larger to go over these and really provide warmth/protection.

[0.135 lb] I have the Heat 3 Smart Shell which is itself great, but have been using those with lighter-weight fleece liners. That combo just wasn't doing the job when the Colorado winters are really cold and windy. This old guys hands have just been too cold too many times and now it doesn't take that much to make them painfully cold.

Today the temperature with the windchill was 17 and I needed to be out in that quite some time. I gave these liners inside the Smart Shells quite the test. Yes, my hands were a little cool, but even having the shells open and folded back a couple of times with just the Durable Liners covering my fingers, my hands were never really cold. My impression is that the Polartec Wind Pro really works. I love this combination Heat Company shell and liner.

[Polyester] Used these at -18C (about -2F) and they worked well, but only if used with the Heat Company gloves. Both items ran me about $160 but considering I have to deal with the cold for 2-3 months, it's a great investment. I could have spent more on warmer combinations, but the price was right for the protection it affords at these temperatures. Not sure how many times I'd be outside shooting in anything much colder.
So I'd put the comfort limit of these gloves (with mitten) at about 0F (-15C). I'd say that you could wear these and not have cold hands for a good 30 minutes, all while touching metal cameras, tripod grips, etc.
If you work regularly in colder temps, get something warmer.

[0.135 lb] Got these because I had very thin merino wool liners and had to wear them plus other gloves. Got these to wear at the Conowingo Dam to photograph the Bald Eagles there. Wore them on 37 degree day with light breeze off the water and these kept my hands warm for 3 hours before I had to turn on my rechargeable zippo hand warmer. I only have to use the hand warmer because I’m standing still for 3 hours. If I have moving around more I’m sure the warmth would have lasted longer. Touch screen portion also works good enough on my pixel 3xl with a glass screen protector. Glad I invested in these.

[0.135 lb] The sizing is spot on, so go to the company website and double-check your hand size you get the right size the first time. I purchased these as layer one since they have an overmitten that I will pick up later in October. The heat pocket is in the right spot to keep your blood warm at your fingertips. And yes it DOES work on touch screens.
I love how they have d rings at the end so you can take them off and keep them together. They thought of everything with the gloves. Since they are soft and light I can see you wearing them out but I don't see a problem with that.

[0.135 lb] Bought these for an upcoming photo workshop in upper BC Canada for Lynx and more. Temps can get down to -20 to -30C. They will be paired with the Heat Co. mitts. My fear was that I would not be able to feel the back buttons for focusing that I use on my Canon R5. These buttons are rounded, tiny and barely protrude out from the camera body. I am very relieved that these gloves work amazingly well for that purpose! They are also very soft and comfortable. The stretchiness is gentle and yet sufficient to eliminate wrinkles and bunchiness anywhere. I couldn't be happier with them!

[Polyester] These are clearly the warmest and best glove liners that I have ever had. Expensive, but for me, worth it. They are warmer and allow me to wear them alone at lower temps; however, I realize these aren't expected to protect you from cold. When cold, I used them with the Heat Company fingerless glove and mitten. With the liner, I can fairly easily manipulate the controls on my Sony mirrorless cameras. They also can be used on the touch screen. The only strange thing about them are the little 'sticky' things on the inside of the fingers and palms. They make it easier to hold things, but there are a couple of times that the palm 'stickies' are a nuisance. When driving, they keep the steering wheel from sliding thru your hand when turning. And when you put on the mittens, the liners then to cling to the mittens making them more difficult to put on.
