[Daylight] Disclaimer, I self develop, scan, and edit my pictures. Was pleasantly surprised by this film. It was honestly sitting around for a while since I mainly use portra, or some other film I’m experimenting with. Finally took this on a hiking trip, and loved the results. Will definitely consider buying again. Top notch stuff. Great for broad daylight.

[0.32 lb] This film is unreal and blows away digital period. I used this film with Nikon and Leica cameras and the results were stunning.

[36] I remember the old Ektar 25 more than a decade ago. But that got swept away with all my old film stuff more than a decade ago when I switched to all digital. Everything changed a few months ago and I purchased a Leica MP and decided to renew my love affair with film and the fully manual process. What a wonderful decision!

I first tried the new Ektar 100 in Kauai and I'd forgotten that I was meant to be metering for the shadows. Lots of film emulsions have a very wide exposure latitude but this film really doesn't. I shot at box speed but many of those first shots in the early mornings or in shade really came back looking awful: washed out, no color or contrast and a weird blue hue over everything. I'd seen in other reviews that the film really likes light so I got a couple more rolls and shot them in Sayulita, Mexico. What an incredible film! This time I shot at box speed but metered for shadows and made sure there was enough exposure. When that happens, the results are magic.

Others have also suggested the film isn't good for portraits, that white skin goes too pink or red. But I didn't find that to be true. This portrait below was on a very pale white young lady and the results were so extraordinary. Super saturated but believable color with normal skin tones.

This isn't the most forgiving film but if you want that tight grained, saturated and contrasty look, you'll fall in love with the rendering and signature of this film. Buy a few rolls and see what you think!

[Daylight] You cant go wrong with this film - vibrant, saturated colors without being overly colorful. Skin tones MAY appear a bit reddish, especially with white skin, but not always - I think it is worth a try even for portraits. Love this film!
