Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this work replacing the rails that come with it with standard 1.25" Speed Rail?

A: Yes. The Glide Gear OH 150 Modular Overhead Camera/Light Rig will work with standard 1.25" speed rails.

Q: 2. Does it include a phone holder ?

A: No, the Glide Gear OH 100 Adjustable Overhead Camera Platform does not include a phone adapter. You would have to purchase one separately. If you need a recommendation, the Sunwayfoto Smartphone Bracket for 2.2 to 3.6" Phone, B&H # SUCPC01, would be a well-built item that also allows you to adjust the angle/position of the smartphone on the overhead camera platform.

Q: 3. What ceiling height does this unit go up to?

A: The ceiling height will depend on the C-stands purchased to accompany the Glide Gear OH 150 Modular Overhead Camera/Light Rig.

Q: 4. Does this have to be surface mounted or does it just sit atop the desk?

A: It sits atop a flat surface pretty well, I've never had a need to secure it and I use it with my fairly heavy Canon 70D and kit lens. It does have holes though, so you could screw it down or even a c-clamp would hold it if needed.

Q: 5. What is the diameter of the rails?

A: The diameter of the Glide Gear OH 150 Modular Overhead Camera/Light Rig rails are 32mm.

Q: 6. Can you add longer poles past 12'? More like 20' if the weight is sustained.

A: Unfortunately Glide Gear does not make longer poles for this rig.

Q: 7. Does this come with the equipment needed to attach your camera?

A: Hi, yes it comes with the Glide Gear GG-33 Ball Head which has a 1/4" - 20 camera mounting screw.

Q: 8. What is the maximum and minimum diameter pole that this can take?

A: Any pole 1 to 2" in diameter is supported.

Q: 9. Can this be used to mount projectors?

A: With a proper projector mount at center, there is no reason why this could not be used.

Q: 10. Can anyone recommend LED lights and friction arms that work with the Glide Gear OH 100? I am using it to film overhead art videos and live demonstrations. I have a 17" LED ring light but I think it's too large & heavy to mount on this.

A: Ikan 240 https://bhpho.to/2kf8tn4 and Pearstone arms could work https://bhpho.to/2kXGhpr.

[Aluminum] The device is very easy to assemble and works exactly as advertised. I have even hooked up a Weebill 2 Gimbal to the Glide Gear OH 100, and it all works very well together.

The size is just perfect to work on a small table. The tables have folding legs, and the tops are about 24 inches by 48 inches. I put two tables together, one to hold the Camera Platform and one to stage up the item(s) to be photographed.

The only problem was that some of the holes in the Side Stands did not line up correctly with the Cross Bar. The holes were off just enough so the Cross Bar could not be bolted into place. I had to enlarge the holes with a slightly larger drill bit. It was an easy fix.

Other than that, I am very happy with the platform.

[6.5 lb] The OH50 allows the camera/bar to be horizontally positioned for overhead/top-down photo and video shots. Perfect for product photography and how-to videos. The mounting sled can be mounted to tripods with 1/4 20 and 3/8 screws. The mounting sled also has 2 1/4 20 holes for mounting lights and monitors. The smartphone holder and ball head allow for a full range of camera/ smartphone angles. Adjustable length and counterweight holder allows for extra stable smooth shots! Recommended for tripods/ stands with payloads of 10lbs or more. For best results, mount the OH50 on a tripod that is securely seated on a tabletop that you are filming. Use the ball head to adjust the orientation of your shot. For cameras without an articulating screen, we recommend using a monitor to frame your shot.
