Portrait-length prime is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used on DX models where it provides a 127.5mm equivalent focal length.

Very bright f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and offers great control over depth of field for isolating subjects and working with selective focus.

One hybrid aspherical element is used to reduce distortion and spherical aberrations for greater sharpness and accurate rendering.

An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to individual elements in order to reduce flare and ghosting for increased contrast and a neutral color balance.

Ultrasonic Dual Linear motor delivers quick, quiet autofocus performance. An AF/MF switch is also featured for seamless switching between focusing modes.

Internal focusing design maintains the overall lens length and prevents the front of the lens from rotating during use.

Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.

Included lens hood helps to block stray light from causing flare and ghosting.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I just received this Rokinon lens from B&H. Where do I find the firmware version? How do I know if I need to update lens? What accessory to buy to update lens? Why is supplied lens hood loose and not locking? Why is serial number blank on the card?

A: The Lens Station for updating lens firmware and adjusting settings is needed in order to do so. Please review the following item. Rokinon Lens Station for Sony E BH #ROIOLSE • MFR #IOLS-E https://bhpho.to/3tqUwE3

Q: 2. What are diameter, length, and weight?

A: The dimensions of the Meike 85mm f/1.4 AF Lens (Nikon Z) are as follows: 84mm (diameter), 5" (length), and 1 lb 12 oz (weight).

Q: 3. Is this optically different from their F-mount version?

A: The optical design is the same for both lenses. Only the mount is different.

Q: 4. Can the Nikon Z6 meter with this lens when setup as a non-CPU lens? if so, what camera settings are recommended?

A: This lens is completely manual. As you set the aperture on the lens barrel, you will see the exposure go darker or lighter in the EVF. The camera must be in manual exposure mode for proper use.

Q: 5. Has anyone checked if this lens works with Canon EOS R and EF adapter?

A: The Rokinon AF 85mm f/1.4 EF Lens for Canon EF does work with the Canon EOS R and EF adapter

Q: 6. Can I use focus peaking with this lens?

A: You can use the focus peaking option on one of the Nikon Z cameras when manually focusing this lens.

Q: 7. This lens (brand new) worked perfectly for about 15 minutes on my R6 with RF adapter then auto focus and shutter released just quit. It appears the lens is no longer talking to the camera. No camera settings were changed from when it was working to when it wasn't. Any help?

A: The Rokinon AF 85mm f/1.4 Lens for Canon RF is compatible with the Canon EOS R6 without an adapter. Try using the lens direct on the camera.

Q: 8. Does this lens work on a Canon 90D ?

A: Yes, it does. Its effective focal length will be ~135mm.

Q: 9. I'm not seeing any reviews or test photos from this lens. How does it compare to the non-AF version in terms of sharpness, etc.? Why is this Rokinon more expensive than the Samyang version? I would have assumed they were the same.

A: The new version of the lens has 9 blade diaphragm instead of 8 like the older manual lens. It uses a 77mm filter thread in stead of a 72mm size. The biggest change however is the addition of auto focus. The Samyang and Rokinon versions currently have the same price.

Q: 10. How this lens compares with the Canon EF version? It looks like EF lens + adapter is lighter than the RF lens. EF + adapter length is the same as the RF length.

A: They have the same number of lens elements and lens groups. They have the same number of diaphragm blades. They have the same coatings. They are both manual focus and both don't have image stabilization. It is the same lens, the RF mount just has the adapter built in.

[28.4°] I picked up this lens for $249 on sale and used. Worth every penny and probably more. I use it primarily for low light video on a Nikon Z6 but its portraiture results have really impressed me as well. It's a little soft at F/1.4, better at F/2, razor sharp at F/2.8. Detail rendition is very nice at all apertures. In terms of light transmission it seems to be about a T1.6- not bad. Some spherical aberration wide open, not severe- realistically you will only notice it if you're photographing stars. Coma is minimal.
Pros: durable construction, solid optical performance, low price. Cons: No autofocus, very slight greenish cast in its color rendition, fairly strong vignetting wide open (so what?), connection to camera not exactly ultra-tight, a little heavy. But for the price, nothing worth complaining about. Dollar for dollar, this is the best lens in my bag.

All the sample images below were shot wide open at F/1.4 except for the sunset.

[77 mm (Front)] Really impressed with the quality of this bag, especially for the prices; material, stitching, and zipper are really good. Have it holding 2-42 strip banks, 1-36 Octo, 1-32 softbox, 1-52 softbox, and speed rings.

[85mm] I bought this bag back on 2009 and didn't write any review till now, so far this bag has seen a lot. Most of my assignments are outdoors and I always carry with tripods, lightstands and soft boxes, always full capacity. It also has been through a lot of flights and airports, it has never failed and the zipper still flawless. Now I'm looking for an other one. Nothing wrong with my old bag, I just have more equipment to carry.

[0.11x] I have a larger, bulkier lighting kit bag, but it was made for big reflective bowls, monolights and older, bulkier setups. Now that I shoot mostly smaller, industrial setups in tight locations I've switched to small, shape-specific LED units, and I I need are a handful of stands and a tripod. So a yard-log shoulder bag with a roomy main compartment and two smaller ones (sure, I gotcher angle mount right here) is absolutely perfect. Quick in, quick setup, quick teardown and I'm outtathere in one trip. Seems built really well, so I should be using this for a long time.

[Autofocus] Using it to carry lightstands and some modifiers. Been using it for last few years now and it might not come with any paddings, it's a relialbe bag that you can trust the quality. No rips or zipper breaks yet.. strap connectors are still intact. My decision to purchase this bag was the size and price. I don't want to spend alot of money for carrying lighting stands...

[77 mm (Front)] I have finally found the perfect bag to carry my light stands. Let's face it my 4 light stands spend a lot of time in the back of my car. Then I carry them into a shoot and back out. Why would I spend more for a bag to go to and from my Outback? I tried another modestly priced bag from B&H and it fell apart in a month. This bag is not gonna fall apart for a long time. It is durable, well built and has tons of space. If you need a solid basic light stand bag buy this one.
