Available for download, the Arturia CZ V is a phase distortion cult classic that models two classic Casio keyboards, the CZ-101 and the CZ-1000, both classic synths used in many hits from the 1980s. The DSP team at Arturia has reverse-engineered the code used inside the seminal keyboards and modeled circuitry like the DAC outputs, doing so in order to give you an authentic Casio sound.

For both synths, the GUI presents you with a relatively simple interface. You won't need to figure out how to use data-entry buttons or small LCD screens. Instead, a streamlined front panel makes manipulating the phase distortion synthesis an intuitive affair. When you need to dive deeper, a graphic interface is on hand to show you all the parameters of the DCOs (digitally controlled oscillators), DCWs (digitally controlled waveshapers), and DCAs (digitally controlled amplifiers) emulated within.

Other panels such as the Advanced Envelope Control and an Advanced Modulation Matrix allow for tone-shaping in the extreme. You can even go beyond the original timbre of the Casios with the custom phase-distortion editor, which lets you draw and save your own custom waveforms. You'll also appreciate two additional LFOs, a combinator section, macro controllers, and a syncable arpeggiator.

With an 8-voice unison mode, 32-voice polyphony, an in-depth vibrato section, and more, this software synth will provide interesting sounds in both studio and live environments. The CZ V is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and can operate in AU, VST, and AAX formats.

Search by name or select the appropriate tags to home in on the sonic character you're looking for. You can mark and recall your own favorites, enter comments, and set up playlists.

You can decide whether you want to fill the screen with graphic reproductions of the classic instrument, or whether you want to scale the window down when you're working in a DAW and screen real estate is at a premium. You can also zoom in for detailed work.

The software intuitively maps with the Arturia KeyLab range of controllers and plays nicely with other MIDI controllers too. You can use the software in standalone mode, or implement it within your preferred DAW. You can even play notes using your computer's keyboard when you're on the go.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this printer use other brands of filament, or just XYZ?

A: This printer can use any brand of the following filament types: 1.75mm PLA, ABS, PETG, Carbon Fiber PLA, Metallic PLA, and more are supported by the CZ-300.

Q: 2. Can it control 2 midi synths at a time, each with distinct, but synced patterns? If so, what to know when setting this up? THanks!

A: Yes. You can control up to three devices with the Beatstep. Here is a forum post from Arturia on how to do it. https://forum.arturia.com/index.php?topic=89269.0

Q: 3. If you have a mic pre processor that provides gain, like DBX 286s, is there a way to bypass the interface’s gain?

A: By utilizing the mic preamp on the DBX 286s, you can adjust the gain for your mic at this stage. Then come out line level to the 1/4-inch TRS input of the Aturia Audiofuse. The gain on the unit cannot be bypassed, but with a strong line level signal coming in, there would not be much gain adjustment needed.

Q: 4. does this interface work with the rode nt1 without a separate preamp? can i use this interface with beyerdynamic DT 990 pro 250 ohm version?

A: Yes, the Arturia MiniFuse 2 Portable 2x2 USB Type-C Audio/MIDI Interface can be used with the Rode NT1 Large Diaphragm Cardioid Condenser Microphone. The interface has built-in mic preamps and the ability to supply phantom power to the microphone. The 250 ohm Beyerdynamic DT 990 Pro Headphones do work with the MiniFuse 2 at an acceptable volume level, but if you find that you need more power for higher output levels and more headroom, then you will want to use a separate headphone amp.

Q: 5. Does this one get hot as well? and do i need to power it by dc or can i plug it in by usb for my shure sm7b?

A: This unit can be bus powered without the need of the dc power supply. In doing so, please note that the overall output level of the device is reduced from +24db output to +18db output in order to compensate for the bus power. When possible, it's recommended to always use the power supply.

Q: 6. It looks like this doesn't come with a power supply. If that is correct, is there an approved one for this unit?

A: The KeyStep offers two options for powering. The USB port can connect to a computer for both power and data. The USB cable can also be used with a wall plug (the type that you would use to charge a phone), such as the Xuma 2.4A USB Charger with Folding Prongs (B&H # XUCAC124). The other option for powering is to use a standard 9V DC 500mA center positive (5.5 X 2.1 X 12mm) power adapter, such as the BOSS PSA-120S AC Adapter (B&H # BOPSA120S2). Here is a link for the product manual -- see page 15 for info regarding the power options. http://downloads.arturia.net/products/keystep/manual/KeyStep_Manual_1_0_0_EN.pdf

Q: 7. Is 36" the maximum height of platform?

A: Yes, the height of the On-Stage KS6150 Compact MIDI / Synth Utility Stand can be adjusted up to a maximum of 36".

Q: 8. Does the MiniFuse go into standby when the computer is put to sleep, or do the LEDs stay on all the time unless you unplug the USB cable?

A: The Arturia MiniFuse 2 Portable 2x2 USB Type-C Audio/MIDI Interface will remain on as long there is voltage sent from the computer's USB port to the interface. When the computer goes to sleep, the interface will eventually shut down as well and the LEDs will also turn off.

Q: 9. Can I use 2 different pairs of speakers, either interchangeably (A/B comparison) as well as all 4 speakers at the same time?

A: The Arturia MiniFuse 4 Portable 4x4 USB Type-C Audio/MIDI Interface does have four analog outputs, which could conceivably be routed to four different speakers, but it does not have any switching controls. For A/B comparison between multiple speakers, you would really want to use a monitor controller.

Q: 10. Is there a carrying case option?

A: You can use a laptop bag, such as the Case Logic 17" Laptop Messenger Bag, BH #CAVNM217.

[Yes] I found 3 mics in my studio that are out of phase. Next up, all my other gear! These are solidly built, and a great value as well.

[Yes] I did a lot of homework watching videos, reading specs and reviews of all of the latest offerings and finally narrowed it down to the Arturia Audiofuse rev2 14X14.
I downsized from 2- 16 channel Presonus Studiolive consoles that are the firewire versions.
They served me well but I just wanted to go with something more portable without losing any quality.
Let me tell you I can hear the difference in quality and it is amazing! I just love this thing!!
I am using it with an old Digimax LT to give me 8 more inputs and it works flawlessly.
The latency is way better than the old system and I don't notice it at all. The talkback feature works great and I love the mix from direct to computer!
I can't say enough good things about this interface and I am so glad I chose it!
I almost forgot to mention the build quality. Being built from a solid block of aluminum and having quality components it really stands out from the competition. It is literally beautiful.
B and H as always were great and got it to me super fast.
Thank you B and H and Arturia for a superior product!!!

[Yes] Takes the guess work out of setting up new systems... easy way to check for absolute polarity both in the wiring as well as out of the speakers... these little guys have saved me more hours over the years than I'll ever be able to calculate

[Yes] I waited ... well, too long ...for the Audio Fuse to arrive and in the end I'm glad I did! This interface is just so easy to use it makes recording fun again. Every control is right there under your fingertips making a software based control panel unnecessary. What a relief! ( there is one available which you'd need to use if you took advantage of the unit's digital inputs and even it has a button to summon and dismiss it ). AudioFuse has all the physical IO most desktop users could ever need, Mics, direct guitars, turntable, line, ADAT, SPDIF, MIDI and note the two independent headphone outs! There's decent input and output metering, no drivers needed, good latency ( I got 8ms with 128samples buffering ) and very transparent Mic Preamps. Certainly up to spec for my needs. The DAC's are great, putting my former interface to shame ( and it came from a major provider of Mac audio hardware). I had no issue interfacing with iOS on a 9.7 iPadPro and it recorded into Cubasis beautifully. It's built well, looks great.... I can't find anything not to like. ( oh .. I got a bit of button backlight flickering but an email to Arturia was answered with 12 hours saying it's related to firmware and will be addressed... nice).
