While it is true that the Tentacle transmits two channels, this adapter only connects to the channel that transmits the timecode.The schematic for this adapter (on the manufacturers site) clearly shows the timecode out of the Tentacle is connected to pin 2 of the XLR and both remaining XLR pins are connected to the ground.Besides, the way a standard XLR connector is wired allows it to only transmit the signal of one audio channel anyway, so only the timecode goes to one audio channel of your camera or recorder, and you can use the other XLR connector on your camera or recorder for any other audio you wish.

[5] This item did exactly what it advertised, and more. Initially, I used this adaptor to connect to some lights that didn't have a 5-pin connector (as advertised), and it worked great, no bugs at all. Then, I had a totally different application: adding audio return into my 5-pin comms system from an XLR output on my audio console. It took 30 seconds for me to patch this connection, and it instantly worked perfectly. Nifty connector, definitely worth keeping in your bag of tricks for emergencies. 5
