Wide-angle prime lens is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 21mm equivalent focal length.

Bright f/2.8 maximum aperture balances a compact design with lens speed for working in difficult lighting conditions and is also suitable for astrophotography applications.

Two aspherical elements limit distortion and spherical aberrations in order to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering.

Three extra-low dispersion elements greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to produce greater clarity and color accuracy.

Super EBC coating has been applied to individual elements to reduce lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.

Rounded seven-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this lens be used in both manual and auto focus?

A: Yes. Like all x Mount Fuji lenses.

Q: 2. What country is this lens made in?

A: South Korea

Q: 3. what is the weight of the lens? Not the package weight, but the just the lens.

A: Excluding front/rear lens caps and the lens hood, the FUJIFILM XF 14mm f/2.8 R Lens weighs 8.29 oz (235g).

Q: 4. is it possible to use this lens ( Fujifilm 18mm f/2.0 XF R Lens ) on aps-c based Nikon camera , and if there is adapter for that ?

A: Nope. distance from flange to focal plane already shorter than Nikon, so no adapter is possible. use Nikon's excellent 35/1.8 on their APS-C cameras.

Q: 5. which lens would you recommend fungi 14mm or XF 10-24mm?

A: Wow, I could bore you with what I shoot and why; indicating that I am either a photographer or an idiot with money. I Shoot the prime. I shoot only primes with only one exception and this is not it. PhaseOne/IQ260, Arca Swiss, Fuji...it doesn't matter. if you want the best from a lens...you by prime. HOWEVER: if your purpose says you MUST have this range for some unknown reason and you cannot live without that range AND your budget says NO to primes...then, of course, you shoot the 10-24.

Q: 6. Is this lens weather sealed?

A: Unfortunately, the FUJIFILM XF 14mm f/2.8 R Lens is not weather sealed.

Q: 7. Will this lens fit/work well on the Fuji EX2S camera?

A: Yes it does. And like all the fujifulm lense, is very sharp. If wish it was a bit smaller though - a real pancake style lens. The 27 is the only one they make that is that small, and it's terrific. Makes the camera pocketable - in a big pocket of course.

Q: 8. Is this the same XF 18mm f2 R lens that I used with my X-E1 back in 2014 or is this a new updated model?

A: This lens was originally released in 2012.

Q: 9. What do I need to buy to make this lens weather resistant? There's a filter and an adaptor, I believe, but exactly what do I buy

A: The FUJIFILM XF 18mm f/2 R Lens is not a weather-sealed lens, and nothing can be done to change that. However, FUJIFILM does make an 18mm f1.4 lens that is weather-sealed. Please take a look at the following link: https://bhpho.to/31OGHA7.

Q: 10. Has anyone used the 14 mm with the LEE Seven5 Filter System? Any vignetting or reflection issues?

A: According to the Lee Filters, there would not be an issue with vignetting or reflections when using the Seven5 on this lens.

[7, Rounded] I do mostly landscapes and architecture. For me 35mm and even 28 sometimes are not quite enough when you're indoors. I love the sharpness and contrast of this Fuji 14mm (21mm in 35mm terms). Works great on my Fuji X-T30.

[1.3 lb] This lens have three notable features - excellent built quality, all metal, smooth and precision mechanics - it is tack sharp at f/2.8 in the center, corner shrapness picks up just at f/4 - almost 0% distortion (not by software correction) makes it ideal for architecture, landscape and indoors. it is optically and mechnically the best lens Fuji make for X system, and thus the most expensive one as well. but it is 100% worht it.

[58 mm (Front)] Use it mainly for Street photography. The switch between auto and manual focus is great together with its DOF diagram its perfect for per-focusing. It is a little expensive but as said before you get what you pay for.

[Autofocus] From the perspective of owning at least 12 Fuji XF lenses, I can say there are no bad ones in the lineup. I line them up in three categories...lenses that do a great job with no particular weakness(ie, kit lens, 35/2, etc,. Then there are lenses that are tack sharp...80 macro, 60 macro, 90/2, 50/2, etc. Then there are lenses that are visually interesting...35/1.4, 23/1.4, the 16/1.4, and the lens in consideration...the XF14/2.8. People will use the word 'rendering' as well to describe this. The best way I know how to define it is that the lens brings something to the table that is added to the photographer's skill to make the image more appealing. In a sense, a wide angle lens does that inherently anyway, but the 14 seems to go beyond that a bit and create that dimensional feel that raises my curiosity a bit when viewing. It's not that we want that all the time, as there is a place for the sharp, flat, and sterile image. But when the situation calls for it, the might XF14 will answer the call and be standing along side the first generation Fuji XF lenses to make life a bit more interesting.

In terms of handling, I find nothing objectionable about this lens at all. The aperture ring is not loose, the manual focus slide is never in the way, and the 14 is in now way 'large' or heavy. The newest Fuji lenses will focus a tad faster...ie, the 16, 23/2, 35/2, and the 50/2. They are also weather resistant. They all have their strong points...and my perspective of shooting a lot of frames with the 14 over the past two weeks, the strength of the XF14 is its visual personality. I simply find it an interesting lens that produces interesting images. And since I own the 16-55 zoom lens, the 14 provides me with a prime that is not replicated in anything else I own.

[f/22] This is one of my favorite lenses in the Fuji lineup.  For a decently fast wide it sports an excellent performance with not much to complain about.

Good: Very sharp across the frame at most apertures and always sharp in the center.  Contrast - while not up to the level of excellence that some of Fujis other primes reach, is still great.  AF is quick enough.  Build quality is excellent and size is just right.  Little-to-no distortion is quite a feature.  It has no issues with flaring or ghosting.

Not so good: Coma isnt a huge problem but does exist to a moderate extent at f/2.8 and mostly vanishes by f/4 - not the best for astro but with some clever processing and framing you can work around it.  At times color temp can render a bit too cool - some would call this rendering clinical but its fixable in lightroom (and even in-camera).  Sunstars dont have much definition.

IMO this lens makes a great all-around wide angle, its always in my bag when I need a wide.

[APS-C] I have had it two days, and I am in love with it. I debated between this and the 16mm f/1.4. I am sure the 16 is great, but I don't need f/1.4 for landscape work. F/2.8 is plenty fast. This lens is significantly wider (21mm vs. 24mm full frame equivalent). The clarity and color rendition of this lens are truly outstanding. Better than any of my Canon wide angles - and cheaper. Got it while on sale at $100 off.

[FUJIFILM X] Typically, I shoot very wide and close. I purchased the 35mm with my X-Pro 1, but I found that it was not as wide as I usually photographed. I considered the 18mm, but when I learned there was a 14mm planned for the future, I waited. I was not dissappointed! I love the wide angle, the image is clean through the edges, and I must comment on the price. This lens is a winner and the Fuji X-Pro 1 continues to gain speed on my professional work.

[f/22] 21mm has always been a favorite focal length of mine for full frame 35mm film cameras. The XF 14 f2.8 being the equivalent on an APS-C sized imager was a natural 2nd lens for my recently purchased XE-1. So far, the results are excellent. Amply fast, relatively distortionless and smooth in operation.
