A: Hi James, I recently had the same issue. First I also ordered a lens shade as the description did not indicate that one would be in the box. I returned the second one with no problem. As far as putting the lens shade on the lens. There is a removable ring on the front of the lens that needs to be taken off before you can actually add the lens hood. This is not the ideal situation as it is easy to loose. Not sure why Olympus set it up like this. Once you remove the ring you can easily add the lens hood. Hope this helps.
