The Chimera Panel Lantern Studio Kit EU Plugwith EU Plug from Chimera Panel Lantern Studio Kit EU Plugis a versatile soft light system with multiple uses and mounting options. At the heart of the kit is the PL100 light engine by LiteGear. This LED light array comes with a controller that allows you to adjust the color temperature from 2600 to 6000K as well as the light intensity from 0-100%. A multi-voltage power supply allows you to use the light anywhere in the world.

The PL100 mounts to the kit's 24 x 24" aluminum frame. Although you can use the system as it is at this point, there's another option. A 24 x 24" lantern softbox, made of a gridless fabric that works well with LEDs, attaches to the frame creating a light source that's suitable for fill light or overhead lighting setups that simulate the illumination you might find in a restaurant or club. A 12' head cable is included, and the entire kit fits in the provided carry bag.

A: The Nomad is only capable of 400w sustained. You would not be able to use the 500w bulbs the Chimera is capable of.

A: This chimera lantern is rated up to 1000 w. ( hot light)

Q: 6. I see someone used a 5 bulb fixture with this. Which fixture and what size speed-ring?

A: Hi Guys , sorry I have only used it with a single fixture, have seen a 2 bulb set up , this was home made.

Q: 7. Does this fold flat when stored?

A: Yes, the Chimera Lantern Softbox with Skirt - 30" (76cm) Diameter once you take the speedring out it can be folded. The sleeve it comes with is more round so most fold it and roll it at the same time to fit in the sleeve.

Q: 8. Is there a gel filter holder for this? How do you gel this lantern?

A: These two bulbs for use in the USA, Chimera Speed Ring with Mogul/Household Socket - USA Plug, for Video Pro & Lantern Lightbanks B&H # CHSRML MFR # 9830 and Chimera Mogul Base Lamp - 500 Watts/120 Volts - for Lantern B&H # CHLM500L MFR # 5505 are correct for the fixture you picked.If you are in not in 120 volt environment you will need a different bulb.

[Yes] I use an adapter to plug in 2 large 75w fluorescent bulbs. Nice soft light. Great for tabletop shoots. The stand is very sturdy and so is the boom arm. Very happy with the purchase. 5

[CRI 95] I took a lighting class last Spring, where cinematographer taught us to light various types of scenes. He turned us on to the usefulness of China Ball type lights, for interior scenes where you are trying to create a warm, flattering sort of look. I bought a couple of the Chimera Lanterns and have been very pleased with them. Put a dimmer on them, and they have become my go to lights for these types of scenes. Not only do they give you a bright and very diffuse light, but there is something about the spherical shape that is also very pleasing. They can mimic a motivated ceiling light for example. They are not necessarily intuitive to assemble, but once you get used to it, they are not too bad. I'm very very pleased with the Cimera Lanterns. 5

[CRI 95] I found out about this kit from a local rental, fell in love with it and decided to get one for myself. It's easy to install and packs into a small package, with proper gripping (2 points of contact) it can withstand winds without any problem. 5

[CRI 95] I got this to use for my architecture photography. It fills the room with soft even light. There are no harsh shadows created whatsoever. I'm using them with my 500w Lowel Omni kit and it has proved to be an invaluable tool in my Arsenal. 5
