Photogenic Solair 1000w/s Monolight - 120vac

$3,731.85 $4,776.77

The Photogenic Solair 1000W/s Monolight - 120VACprovides constant color at all power levels. There is no color shift when powering the Solair up or down. A microprocessor provides consistent power output, preventing Kelvin degree shifts and variances in power output that may have happened on previous Powerlights.

All the conveniences and features found on the previous Powerlight DR series are still here, plus the addition of two more stops of variable power, making it an 8 stop range.

The UV-Coated flashtube included with this monolight lowers the color temperature to 5500°, which is the color of noon daylight on a clear day.

    Related Questions and Answers

    Q: 1. Don't they have this backwards???: 1/770 Sec. @ max. power1/345 Sec. @ min. power

A: That is correct. This is flash duration not recycle time.Recycle time is 3 sec at Max power and 0.8 sec at Minimum power.

Q: 2. Can you use a quantum turbo battery?

A: Yes this can be used with a Quantum Turbo Battery.

Q: 3. Can flash duration be adjusted?

A: Not directly, no. But for most flash units the brightness of the flash over a set amount of time doesn't change. What does change is the length of the light burst. So shooting at full power uses the longest burst, and at half power it will be half as long. I don't have the manuals in front of me (but they are online at the Photogenic website). I'm pretty sure they give the length of flash durations at various settings.... or at least an estimate.

Q: 4. what is the color temparature of flash head bulb?

A: The Photogenic PL2500DRC offers a daylight kelvin temperature.

Q: 5. How do you set the pocket wizard on the ML 600 R

A: From the manufacturer. Here is the Norman ML600R manual. The Teach sequence is on the last page of the manual. The user sets the channel on their PocketWizard transmitter/transceiver to the channel that they want, and then presses the test button on that transmitter/transceiver & holding that transmitter/transceiver next to the ML600R, turn the power ON the ML600R. Hold the test button on the PocketWizard for ten seconds, the result is the ML600R has leaned that channel. The light is now set.Best regards,Patricka href= http://normanlights.com/manuals/ml600manual.pdf target= _blank http://normanlights.com/manuals/ml600manual.pdf/a

Q: 6. Hello. How much do one of these monolights weigh? Thanks.

A: Each Monolight weighs about 4.5 lbs.

Q: 7. Can the power be adjusted remotely? If so, how? Thanks!

A: From the manufacturer. The power can be adjusted with the Photogenic PLDIR-2 Infrared Receiver (919235) a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/175746-REG/Photogenic_919235_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital_Display.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/175746-REG/Photogenic_919235_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital_Display.html/a and the PLIRC-2, and the Photogenic Infrared Hand Held Remote (919438) a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/523174-REG/Photogenic_919438_PLIRC2_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/523174-REG/Photogenic_919438_PLIRC2_Infra_Red_Receiver_Digital.html./a

Q: 8. what is the warranty period?

    A: Limited 1-Year Warranty.

    Q: 9. GN170?? Seems incredible, what are real world exposures 10ft @ ASA100?

A: Guide number divided by the distance from light to subject gives you your F stop using ISO 100.So GN170/ 10' =F17 rounded to F16.Adjust fstop up or down depending on ISO you're using.

Q: 10. does any soft box or beauty dish can go on it ?

A: If you purchase the correct speedring for your monolight strobe, then yes, you may use softboxes or beauty dishes with the Photogenic PLR500DRC Radio Solair 500W/s Monolight. As indicated under the Accessories tab, you may purchase the Photogenic Speed Ring with Back Plate for Photogenic Flash Heads, B&H # PHBPSRP, or the Photoflex SC-B9010SFR Speed Ring for Photogenic and Norman Monolights, B&H # PHSRODP. These work with most universal softboxes that require a speedring. For a beauty dish, I would recommend the dedicated Photogenic beauty dishes, or the Impact Beauty Dish Adapter for Photogenic and Norman Monolights Flash Heads, B&H # IMBDAPHO, and an Impact beauty dish.
