Designed with filmmakers in mind, this 4 x 4" Tiffen 4x4 Black Glimmerglass Diffusion Filter 1 Densityfrom Tiffen 4x4 Black Glimmerglass Diffusion Filter 1 Densityfeatures a density of 1 for a strong effect. It is designed to subtly soften the image and lower detail resolution, often sought after by videographers who want to simulate the look of film footage while shooting on digital gear. The filter is made of water white glass and can be mounted on compatible square filter holders.

This black Glimmerglass model gives a muted, washed-out look to bright colors, and it reduces contrast due to its white halation effect. It can smooth out unwanted blemishes, wrinkles, or other fine details in a subject's face while keeping the general image in focus, suiting it well for portraiture work. Manufactured using ColorCore technology, each Tiffen filter is designed to be accurate in its effect and produce consistent results.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit a 50mm sony g master lens?

A: The Moment 49mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) is for lenses that have a 49mm filter thread. The only Sony 50mm lens that has that is the Sony FE 50mm f/1.8 Lens. If that is the lens you have that one will fit.

Q: 2. Will the image quality be okay if I use two 5% cinebloom filters together? And will it work well?

A: Depending on the lens you may introduce vignetting. As you stack filters, the vignetting becomes more apparent.

Q: 3. If I buy Moment 82mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter 10% would it work on Canon R50 if i am using Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM?

A: The Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM Lens (Canon RF) uses 55mm filers. Unfortunately, Moment does not have a 10% diffusion filter on that size. You can get the Moment 58mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) and use an adapter to make it fit on a 55mm lens. This is the filter: https://bhpho.to/35ilHnH This is the adapter: https://bhpho.to/3KtiKoj

Q: 4. If I'm using a VND, does it matter if I put the Cinebloom in front of the lens or in front of the VND?

A: If your variable neutral density (VND) filter has 58mm filter threads on the front of the filter, then no, it should not matter if you place the Moment 58mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) in front of the VND filter or if you place the VND filter in front of the Moment 58mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density).

Q: 5. Do I need to take special care when cleaning the CineBloom Diffusion Filter?

A: To clean the Moment 82mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) I would recommend a high quality micro fiber cloth and lens cleaner like this one. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1097470-REG

Q: 6. Does Moment 82mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) wor if I am using Canon R50 with Canon RF-S 55-210mm f/5-7.1 IS STM?

A: The Canon 55-210mm RFS lens uses 55mm filter. Moment does not make this filter in the 55mm size but you can use this 58mm version: https://bhpho.to/35ilHnH combined with this step up ring: https://bhpho.to/3KtiKoj

Q: 7. Can I put an ND filter on top of this?

A: The Moment 82mm CineBloom diffusion filter has front-filter threads that can accommodate another filter in front of it.

Q: 8. Do you use diffusion filters such as this one in conjunction with a UV filter, or without it?

A: I usually use the diffusion filter alone, without a UV filter. That is because if you stack filters there is a greater chance of getting reflections and ghosting.

Q: 9. Where is this filter made?

A: According to the information in our system, the Moment 49mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) is manufactured in China. Please be aware this can change by the manufacturer over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 10. If I'm using a VND filter, does it matter if I put this filter in front of my lens or in front of the VND?

A: If your variable neutral density (VND) filter has 58mm filter threads on the front of the filter, then no, it should not matter if you place the Moment 58mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density) in front of the VND filter or if you place the VND filter in front of the Moment 58mm CineBloom Diffusion Filter (10% Density).

[0.35 lb] GREAT CONTRAST AND SMALL DIFUSION.
VERY GOOD FOR FOOD PHOTOGRAPHY, INDUSTRIAL IMAGES AND LANDSCAPE.

[0.35 lb] I was worried that a 1 strength would be really glow-y the way a promist would, but you only really see an obvious glow in very strong back-lit or high contrast conditions. Otherwise it's a very a very gentle touch on highlights and overall contrast.

Also the idea that a sparkly filter inspires confidence in a model is the silliest selling point I've ever heard, and my models laughed at the idea of it ... which got me some genuine smiles, so I guess there's that.

[0.35 lb] So I have used the GlimmerGlass series a lot as a large matte-box filter on the cinema cameras. But sometimes I go and shoot inserts on a lighter setup with my FX6 and a Zoom lens. For that purpose this filter is absolutely perfect. If the 1/2, 3/4 and 1/4 become available as 82mm filters I will purchase them.

[0.35 lb] Very subtle, but very flattering on faces. It offers very little hallation on highlights, just a little.

[0.35 lb] Lots of reviews suggest the 1/8 for a more 'filmic look but I found that I needed the 1/4 strength to get that effect.

Note that focal length and the quality of the light itself will impact the outcome.

A note regarding the GG1: This provides a very noticeable effect in most cases. Maybe a tad too much for everyday use.

Tiffen needs a magical filter that works on the jpeg but leaves the raw alone !

[6 x 5.6 x 1.2"] Tiffen Filters are always the best when it comes to build quality, reliability and options they provide. I am super happy with my 2 Set of Glimmerglass!!:) They make the image naturally gloomy without washing out the entire scene.

Also B&H did a perfect job on shipping and customer contact! I live in Germany and my package arrived only 4 days after my order was placed. Thanks, you guts are the best!
