Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the Low Profile Titanium Lock Ring? Is this a way of locking the filter, to stop it rotating?

A: The lock ring holds the glass in the main filter ring. It is low profile to avoid vignetting. This has nothing to do with the rotation of the filter for polarization.

Q: 2. How does this compare to the wide angle low profile filter that is about $40 cheaper? Which one is recommended for videography/filmmaking?

A: The wide angle version is meant for wide angle lenses to prevent vignetting. Otherwise, both versions have the same purpose in mind.

Q: 3. Does this fit on a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM Zoom?

A: Yes, the Sigma 17-50 you've described is a 77mm diameter lense. This filter will fit.

Q: 4. I have this filter in the 55mm size but the lens caps that I have will not stay on for more than a few seconds, the slightest pressure on them pops the cap off the lens. Anybody find a lens cap brand/model that works with this filter?

A: The Sensei 55mm Center Pinch Snap-On Lens Cap is compatible with the Tiffen 55mm Digital HT (High Transmission) Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter.

Q: 5. Looking for a 77mm lens filters for my new nikon 70-200 f2.8. I'll be using in Iceland in winter when it might be gray overcast with lots of white snow? any suggestsion? on d750 camera

A: We recommend this circular polarizing filter, which will help you to eliminate any reflected light when shooting around water. It will also make blue skies pop and white clouds pop if you happen to encounter those conditions. We also recommend a protection filter such as a href= https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/533244-REG/Tiffen_77HTDUC_77mm_Digital_HT_High.html target= _blank https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/533244-REG/Tiffen_77HTDUC_77mm_Digital_HT_High.html/a

Q: 6. Will a standard 52mm Nikon lens cap fit on this polarizer? Thanks, Frank

A: Yes, a 52mm lens cap will fit on the Tiffen 52mm Digital HT filter.

Q: 7. Is the filter holder included?

A: No. Just the following is included. VFX Filter Alcantara leather bag

Q: 8. How many light steps does it represent?

A: The Vaxis VFX 95 IRND 2.1 Filter for Tilta Mirage Matte Box would reduce the light by 7 stops.

Q: 9. What’s the transmission value of this filter? Thanks

A: Filter Factor 2.3x (1.2-Stop) to 2.8x (1.5-Stop)

Q: 10. Recommended circular polarizing filter for Canon 100-500 to ne used in snow conditions also use clear filter on lens allways?

A: Tiffen 77mm Digital HT (High Transmission) Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Filter have front threads of 77mm if you preffer to have an uv filter in the front. However this filter has the highest scratch-resistant coatings. If you would be shooting outdoors the filter factor cuts between 1.2-1.5 stop of light to help correct exposure when shooting with snow.

[Solid ND] I bought this ND filter so that I can shoot video at a proper shutter speed and still use a low f-stop in broad daylight. It works great, allowing me to keep distracting backgrounds nicely blurred. When shooting towards the sun this filter in combination with my Nikon series E 50mm F1.8 does lose some contrast if I don't use a hood or a matte box. Nothing that can't easily be corrected by some slight curves adjustment in post. The color I get through this filter is very good, even though it's an ND2.1 everything comes out very natural with no noticeable color cast to the image.

[Solid ND] I bought this for an upcoming China shoot and paired it with my Sony A7s. I had to return this for the Tiffen 1.2 IRND. I wasn't unhappy with the 2.1 at all. What it came down to was that: I wanted a little more room to create a larger depth of field. This filter does however bend towards a green shift, so make sure you compensate for that in camera.

[Solid ND] I rate this filter the same as the two others I am using. Tiffen products reflect reliable QUALITY CONTROL. I count on it.

Ever since my first series filter for my Leica M3, back in the 1960's, TIFFEN has not let me down. Same now, as then, but this time for my Panasonic S1H. Just great for a PURE COLOR feel. No color shifts, all balanced color. Professional results.

[Solid ND] I used this filter on a recent trip to New York. Filter worked great for me. There was very little color cast and I ended up with some great shots.
