A: The rubber ring of the SMDV Mount Adapter for Profoto Flash Heads (B&H# SMPROFOTOAD) is designed to be large enough for it to slip onto Profoto strobe heads such as the Profoto B1, B1X, B10, B10 Plus, B10X, B10X Plus, and so on. Rather than relying on a constant size, articulating the lever on the side of this adapter effectively constricts the opening of the rubber side of the ring so that it grips the front of those strobes securely. To be clear, the ring is not a constant size but rather becomes tighter (i.e. more constricted) when one flips the side lever. Given that it's made of rubber and not molded plastic, you should expect some variance both in its inner diameter and also at different ambient temperatures. However, it will work with the aforementioned strobes and also with any other strobe that can utilize the same speed rings and inserts as those.

[0.29 lb] I was not expecting the FINEST quality from this, knowing it's plastic, but the fiber-filled thermoplastic is nearly identical to pelican case stuff and is very rigid. In addition, I was worried about fitment of my bowens accessories in there, but they fit very firmly and should for some time. 5

[Bowens] Having the chance to use great light modifiers like the Broncolor PARA system of parabolic umbrellas for users of Non-Broncolor Flashes ( strobes), gives photographers a cool alternative to explore many lighting options for both studio and location work. BH is offering both the adapters for Profoto and Elinchrom brands of strobes, so photographers do not have to spend such large amounts of money in purchasing yet another Parabolic umbrella if, by any chance, they already have access to a Broncolor Para. At this moment, I own the 3 adaptors and only one Umbrella. The adaptor fits nicely into the Broncolor unit and works as expected. Users of both Profoto or Elinchrom strobes may need to add an extra sandbag of counterweight, as both strobes tend to be larger and heavier than the standard Broncolor strobes but other than that, the system works wonderfully. 5

[0.29 lb] I went to hardware store and bought a sleeve measuring 5/8 OD and 1/4 ID and put it into the bracket's receiver. I drilled a hole in its side for the nut to pass through and tighten on the umbrella. Some umbrellas may be a bit larger so enlarge the center hole as needed. This puts the flash on axis into the middle of the umbrella. Bowen mount has adapters for sundry flash units. 5
