Typically, subwoofers are omnidirectional, radiating in all directions. This results in a build-up of low frequencies on-stage and wasted LF energy at the rear of the system. Sound engineers found a way to create a cardioid (heart-shaped) polar pattern, which removes much of the low energy at the rear of the subwoofers. Unfortunately, this system required the use of subwoofer arrays with multiple enclosures, clever placement, and processing of delay and polarity to redirect the energy.

The KS212C provides all the benefits of a cardioid subwoofer array, but without the headache of multiple enclosures and outboard processing. The single subwoofer can be deployed in a vertical or horizontal position and features M20 speaker pole fittings in either position, while the 15mm Baltic birch enclosure features a rugged paint designed for long-life and lasting durability. A: You wouldn't want to couple two together as that may create a dangerous tipping situation. Q: 2. will a qsc kw181 fit in this case?

A: No, the QSC KW181 will not fit inside the ProX Direct X-QSC-KLA181 road case for the KLA181. The KW181 is approximately 4 inches larger across and 2 inches deeper than the KLA181, so the case will be too small. At this time we do not have a road case sized to fit the KW181. However, we do carry the QSC KW181 Soft Speaker Cover with Grille Guard (B&H # QSKW181CVR) which is a heavy-duty Cordura nylon cover with a grille guard designed to properly fit on the KW181 subwoofer. Although it is not a hard case, the cover will protect the exterior from minor damage like scrapes and scuffs, as well as from the weather, while in storage or transport.

A: The subwoofer weighs 88 pounds. It is only 15 inches wide, which is about the same width as the K12.2. Technically you can mount it, but you might want to think about putting it on its own separate tripod speaker stand. It would definitely be more stable that way.

Q: 5. In the second photo, does anyone know which speakers are shown strapped to the top?

A: It's difficult to be certain, but from the size of the bags in comparison to the KS112 subwoofer, I think the speakers in the two bags on top of the sub are both the QSC K10.2 (B&H # QSK102). The side flaps that are visible on the two tote bags do look very much like the QSC K10 TOTE Soft Tote Bag (B&H # QSK10TOTE - look at the 4th photo on the item page for this tote bag). The other QSC tote bags for the K12.2, K8.2, and other models have a different sized side flap or a different pocket.

A: I have not had any hum or pop turning it on or off. I also use balanced, shielded cables when recording in the field. This monitor has worked quite well for me :)
