The turn knob and bottom jaw are removed from the shaft, Extendellini is fixed onto the end of the shaft and the turn knob and jaw are mounted onto it.

A: We have two versions, one with a 1/4"-20 female threading at the end of the pin, which is what i believe you are asking about. We also have a Mini Matthellini with a male 3/8"-16 threading at the end of the pin.

A: The actual post is about 8 (inches) long. The bottom half of the clamp to the top of the post is 5 long. Within the clamp jaws you could fit a 3 1/4 item. I wouldn't go larger than 3 though. I use it to hold boom poles on C clamps. Works great!
