A: Not really. The cover is long enough to provide some cover for short shotgun mics but ultimately your audio will be compromised by the rain cover itself. for example if you use this in the rain the sound of rain hitting the cover will be much louder than your subject simply because the rain hitting the rain slicker is so much closer to the microphone than your subject. It is best to take the microphone off the camera and have a dedicated mount with dedicated protection for the shotgun microphone to get the best audio when using this in inclement weather.

[Canon XA55] I carry my Sony PMW-EX1 and it works great. I like using the Velcro straps to secure the camera inside. The camera is well protected with this case. 5

[0.3 lb] I use the DVO-2 case for my Panasonic HMC-150P. It's a very nice case, it holds everything I need and then some. It fits into the trunk of my car just fine. The thing I like most about it is the many pockets it comes with to place your gear in. 5

[Canon XA55] It's a Porta Brace! The only reason you get a new one is because you want to impress the clients. These suckers never give up they just get dirty. I love this bag. I had the backpack one and it houses the Z1 very well. I like the compartments in this bag and I really like how well it protects the cam on all sides. It is light enough that when you only have your minimum kit inside you don't feel the size of the bag. Don't be fooled though this thing can carry a TON of stuff. At first I felt it may be too big but not after carrying it a few months now. This is a great bag if you occasionally shoot all day and need the batts, on cam lights, etc for the job. Highly reccomended! Mike 5
