The FotodioX WonderPana 145 Core Unit Canon 14mm Lens UV Filteris a general use, clear filter that is compatible with the FotodioX WonderPana 145, FreeArc, and Absolute filter holder systems. It is designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features a lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter ring. The filter ring includes a brass side knob that provides increased leverage when mounting or unmounting the FotodioX 145mm UV Filter.

This UV filter is also useful as a general protective filter to leave over lenses at all times. Such filters help to reduce dust and moisture from reaching your front lens element and provide additional protection in case of drops or situations where scratching could occur.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is it an inner focusing lens?

A: Yes it is, and a very sharp one at that. I've used it for two years and I love it.

Q: 2. Has anyone used the 14 mm with the LEE Seven5 Filter System? Any vignetting or reflection issues?

A: According to the Lee Filters, there would not be an issue with vignetting or reflections when using the Seven5 on this lens.

Q: 3. Can this filter holder work with the Rokinon DSX 14mm cinema lens ?

A: No, the FotodioX WonderPana 145 Core Unit Kit for Rokinon/Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 RF/FE does not fit the Rokinon DSX 14mm cinema lens.

Q: 4. The specs state that it is an auto-focus lens. Can you focus manually if needed?

A: Yeah the manual focus works great!

Q: 5. Does this Filter Holder work with Rokinon DSX 14mm EF-Mount cinema lens?

A: No, the FotodioX WonderPana 145 Core Unit Kit for Rokinon/Samyang AF 14mm f/2.8 RF/FE does not fit onto the Rokinon DSX 14mm EF-Mount cinema lens.

Q: 6. I purchased another polarizer filter and it only works with the GoPro Hero3+ underwater housing. Will the FotodioX Pro WonderPana Filter Kit for GoPro Hero3/3 fit the other skeleton housings (with the screws around the lens) as with the Battery BacPac or LCD BacPac?

Q: 7. This filter will fit the lens to the Sigma 300-800?

A: The Sigma 300-800m zoom has a 165mm front diameter. The Fotodiox UV filter is only 145mm, so I doubt if this filter will fit the lens in question....

Q: 8. Is this lens grey market and if not, does it come with a manufactureres warranty?

A: This item is not grey market. If B&H gets items from outside channels, it is marked imported.

Q: 9. which lens would you recommend fungi 14mm or XF 10-24mm?

A: Wow, I could bore you with what I shoot and why; indicating that I am either a photographer or an idiot with money. I Shoot the prime. I shoot only primes with only one exception and this is not it. PhaseOne/IQ260, Arca Swiss, Fuji...it doesn't matter. if you want the best from a lens...you by prime. HOWEVER: if your purpose says you MUST have this range for some unknown reason and you cannot live without that range AND your budget says NO to primes...then, of course, you shoot the 10-24.

Q: 10. Can I stack both filters and will it cause vignetting?

A: Yes, it will but only at very wide apertures

[UV] This cap is as good as (or better than) any that I've seen from Canon, Nikon or Tamron. Good firm spring tension and precise fit.

[Multi Coated] I'm an architect in the process of resurrecting my architectural photography skills by doing back up project photography for my firm. Forty-two years ago I was using a Nikon F and a Nikkor 35mm PC lens. I recently invested in a Canon 6D and the 24 & 17mm TS-E lenses. I've missed not having a polarizing filter on the 17mm until a few weeks ago when I was in NYC and ran across an architectural photographer using the WonderPana polarizing filter. I immediately ordered one and have had several occasions to use it since. My immediate reaction is that the polarizing effect may not be quite as dramatic as I am used to, but it is effective none-the-less and certainly better than not having the filter. Also, I am being very careful with it given some of the review comments about the little brass nibs breaking off. So far, so good!

[UV] Having a crop sensor camera, using the Rokinon 14mm is great for waterfall photos since I can get real close to my subject. However, not having a polarizer, the photos were never as good as I wanted them. Now I can get remove the glare and really start to enjoy the lens. Just remember, if you use this filter to darken a blue sky on a 14mm lens without clouds, the sky will look terrible but this is not what this polarizer and lens combo is for.

[0.33 lb] I do architectural work and before finding about WonderPana, I seldom used my wide angle lenses such as the Sigma 12-24. Now, they are integral part of my main lens kit. Being able to put a polarizer or a ND filter in front of the lens has changed my options dramatically. It is indeed a wonderful accessory.
