The FotodioX WonderPana 145 Core Unit Sigma 20mm Art Lensis compatible with the FotodioX WonderPana 145, FreeArc, and Absolute filter holder systems. It helps to reduce reflections as well as glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.

A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.

The FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity and features lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter rings. A rear filter ring connects to a compatible filter holder while four brass knobs along the side of the front filter ring allow the filter glass to be easily rotated. This provides the ability to achieve the desired degree of polarization even if another filter is placed in front of the FotodioX 145mm Circular Polarizer Filter.

Helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.

Polarizing filters arrange, and filter, directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of the light.

Clears up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Strongest effect when used at a 90° angle from the sun.

Circular polarizers are ideal for use with digital cameras and autofocus lenses where a linear polarizer will often disrupt auto exposure and focus features.

1.25 to 8x filter factor reduces exposure by 0.3 to 3 stops.

Constructed from optical glass for clarity.

Lightweight, aluminum-alloy filter rings along with four brass side knobs allow the filter glass to be easily rotated. The desired effect can be easily achieved even if another filter is placed directly in front.

Filter pouch included for storage and transport.

Q: 1. can we use LEE filter for this lens?

A: I have heard of NO firm making any add on filters for this item. Realize, it has a 94.5 degree field of view and is 85 mm! Unless you wish to make some kind of slip on thing there is nothing yet. Still, this is one of the best lenses I have gotten and I have most of the Nikon and Sigma catalogs!

[145 mm] The fact is I've tired of waiting for the Leica Super APO Summicron-SL 21mm to become available so I tried the Sigma 20mm on my SL2. The image I've attached was shot at f/5.6, ISO 100 in DNG so no in camera corrections. Colors are rich and accurate, contrast is what I expect from a raw image on my SL2. As a well known YouTube reviewer has said many times 99% of the images from this lens will impress most of us 99% of the time. Give it a try!

[Glass] The lens is built like a tank. You get that impression when the package arrives, before you see it. It's heavy, solidly built and feels very good in the hand (it's nearly as heavy as the 70-200mm F2.8). With a lens that heavy and well built, you'd expect it to have great picture quality and...it doesn't disappoint. I've used the lens professionally for real estate photography and expect to use it on other projects as well. It's bright, fast and wide—perfect for architectural, landscape and night skies (I experimented just one night with a few pictures and wow! It's awesome). I've experimented shooting wide open at 1.4 - 2.0 and didn't see a noticeable difference in sharpness, although I preferred shooting at around 1.8 - 2.0. I highly recommend it!

[0.365 lb] Just received the lens so no time for full evaluation. I have had the HSM 20mm for Canon and have used on Sont A7r4 with Metabones adapter. I have enjoyed the HSM lens for use in low light but used sparingly due to weight and fear of damaging front element during casual use. I bought the DG,DN lens because I figured I would get to use it more often but did not consider the improvement in photo IQ or video performance. I saw a couple of reviews comparing Sony 1.8 stating the Sony was a little sharper and I was not expecting a large increase in the IQ over old HSM. I think I was wrong. So far with only about 100 test images, this lens appears to be a definite improvement over the HSM. New Lens also much better for video since no adapter needed. Very fast, accurate focusing improves IQ as well. Very impressed. Very happy so far. Plan to use new lens a lot especially in low light. Kudos to B&H for super-fast delivery!!

[0.365 lb] I purchased this lens for night exposures. I am not a fan of stacking so this fits my style and the lens has worked even better than expected. I do shoot at f1.4 for about 15-20 seconds at ISO 500-600. This is underexposing a bit, l but the RAW file works nicely and, the noise is acceptable and the reduced ISO looks great on an enlarged print

[Glass] From a mathematical perspective, this is the best lens for astrophotography because in 25 s it could guzzle so much light with a F/1.4 aperture. While it is true that you could have a longer exposure time with the 14 mm F/1.8, but the F/1.4 aperture size makes the difference.

Another advantage is that the 20 mm is not as wide as 14 mm, giving a slightly more pronounced view of the Milky Way core. Just an awesome lens.
