Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How widely can the clamp open? In other words, what's the maximum pole diameter I can attach it to?

A: unfortunately this specific detail has not been provided by the manufacturer

Q: 2. The Cardellini website lists the shaft length of this item as 11", not 13" as stated here. Which is correct?

A: The total length of the Cardlini is 11"the rod length is 9"

Q: 3. Can our company use this switcher for gotomeeting / webex etc? We'd like to connect up to 4 cameras for company meetings.

A: Yes, you will be able to use the Roland V-1HD for GoToMeeting, Webex, and other 3rd party conferencing programs.

Q: 4. where do you record everything you do here? SD? SSD?

A: The V-1HD does not have any internal storage or card slots for recording, however it does have an HDMI output that you can use. You could go out of this device via HDMI in to the Atomos Ninja 2, which will record on Solid State Drives. You can also use a capture device like the Blackmagic Design UltraStudio Mini Recorder or Magewell HDMI USB 3.0 Dongle to bring the signal in to computer and record it there.

Q: 5. Can you mix up 1080p & 1080i on the HDMI input?

A: Per their page: *The input interlaced video signal is converted to progressive video signal by internal processing. I have connected a Panasonic AG AC90, Nikon D800, GoPro3Black, and my Dell Inspiron 7000 all with no issues and did not have to play with any of them to get it to read them and send the output to my Atomos Ninja.

Q: 6. Does this switcher include the remote control software?

A: Yes it does. This switcher will include the V-1SDI RCS dedicated computer software, which is compatible for both Mac and PC.

Q: 7. If i want to RECORD, WEBCAST and PREVIEW from the outputs, could I use a hdmi splitter?

A: The Roland V-1HD does have a Preview output so you are good there. Downsteam, you should be able to do what ever you wish with your HDMI signal.

Q: 8. Can you run a 3/8 rod all the way through both ends? If not how far in can a 3/8 rod get from one end? Thx.

A: No. The following unit has 3/8"-16 Female threads at each end of the connector.

Q: 9. I am looking for a device to superimpose / mix the inputs of multiple video sources at once. I see that the V-1HD has 4 HDMI inputs but from what I understand, only two can be blended into a single output at one time. Is this correct?

A: That would require a more advanced Production Switcher with multiple mixed effect buses. https://bhpho.to/3dNQHyN

Q: 10. I know the preview screen has a split screen mode, but does the output as well? As in can I switch from showing one source, to all 4 at once if I wanted?

A: The Preview Output can be set as a Multi-View window which allows you to see all 4 of your sources. You cannot do the same for all 4 HDMI signals through its program out I'm afraid. However this unit does allow you to output 2 sources through its Picture-in-Picture and Split Screen Modes.

[0.105 lb] Simply put. Get it, or the variation you can use. Useful with smooth threads. I prefer the 4 prong adjustment nut and the ACME threads. I have used it to hold up small lights, flag, a fork, feather (for kicks), and an articulating arm with a tablet, without damaging any of them. It isn't ideal for everything, but it does a lot.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Know your application and use the appropriate tools. I have heeded others warning about overtightening the clamp and have yet to bind the clamp. If I need a vise grip on something I'll just use an MP9 or C Clamp instead.

[0.105 lb] This is my favorite clamp! I have 6 of them. I usually use them with my Westcott Scrim Jim Cine Kits. The three sizes of scrims I usually use is 4x4', 6x6', & 8x8'; only the 4x4' has the 3/8-16 thread in the center of each side. Each side of the 6x6' is composed of a 2' & 4' piece so I use the Cardellini clamp to get the Baby Pin in the middle. Each side of the 8x8' is made by joining (2) 4' pieces together so I either use the Digital Juice Butterfly Clamp or the Cardellini Clamp. The Cardellini Clamp is smaller, stronger, and less expensive than the Digital Juice Butterfly Clamp; and it works better.
