[Side Address] I've been doing voice-overs in my home studio and out in the real world for over 17 years. At home I have a MXL mic 2001, which I love. I'm starting to work on podcasts and needed a second mic. After MUCH research and reviews reading I went with this one. I'm happy to say so far, so good! It sounds just as good as my other mic - I hope it lasts as long, too! And the price/value is great also.

[Solid-State] The MXL 990 Blaze is yet another outstanding microphone by the MXL folks. It has excellent audio qualities at a very affordable price. To send it over the top, it has red LED's, 4 of them, to set the mood in your studio, or pod casting area. In my case, I use it for 2 way communications in my radio room. The audio quality from this mic rivals the more expensive brands & models out there that are designed for the human voice. I have several different mics available, but this one is my go-to mic of choice! The price won't break the bank, but the quality audio says it's right up there with the high end mics. The red LED's set it apart, and really catch your eye.
Overall, it is a genuine pleasure to own and use this mic.

[48 V] I've been into recording since 1979 used a lot of microphones my favorite a sinnheiser but this mic preforms great on vocals ,especially bass vocals when EQed properly. Also does well on snare drums .high end is lacking some but overall for the money a great deal on a good product.

[Phantom Power] Starting off as a young producer I needed a cheap but also not a cheaply made microphone. I found that the MCA SP1 can offer quality without having to dig into your wallet to purchase. I'm running two of these into my PreSonus AudioBox and the quality for me is great. Only thing I wish came with it would've been a shock mount, but you can easily fix this by going to the MXL website and looking at the shockmounts there. There are no real cons for me, I'm not too picky as of now, just starting off in recording what more could I ask.
