One way to test is to try to meter in a consistent light situation without AND with the filter. If the meter is asking you to open up or slow down the shutter speed (ie. add exposure) when you have the filter on, then your camera is already accounting for the filter. If there is no difference in metering between with or without the filter, then your camera is not account for the filter when metering and you'll have to compensate. Hope this helps.
