Achieve clear, intelligible speech reproduction and easy local switching with the black Audio-Technica U891Rb, a cardioid condenser boundary microphone optimized for surface-mount applications in conference rooms, houses of worship, recording studios, live event venues, and sports arenas. The local touch-sensitive switch offers three modes for customizable control of talk/mute functions, and the microphone's on/off status is indicated by a two-state RGB LED. The high-output condenser element yields a wide frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz, which can be modified via the switchable 80 Hz low-cut filter—ideal for mitigating rumble and low-frequency buildup.
The cardioid polar pattern delivers directional pickup and enhanced off-axis rejection, allowing reduced ambience and high gain before feedback. Thanks to the UniGuard RFI-shielding technology, the U891Rb impedes radio frequency interference from sources such as wireless devices, fluorescent lights, air conditioners, and more. It can be powered by 11 to 52 VDC phantom power, so no batteries or external power supplies are required. The rotatable balanced TB3M output connects to the included 25' TA3F to XLR microphone cable, ensuring easy hookup to your mixer, preamplifier, or audio interface. For Surface-Mount Applications Local Switching with RGB LED High-Output Cardioid Condenser Element Reduces Off-Axis Sound Pickup Enhanced Rejection of RFI 20 Hz to 20 kHz Frequency Response Switchable Low-Cut Filter at 80 Hz Rotatable TB3M Output Connector 11 to 52 VDC Phantom Powered Includes 25' TA3F to XLR Mic Cable

Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Do I need a power module or can I just plug this into a mini-XLR to XLR adapter and power it with phantom?
A: This version of it has an unterminated cable. This one (AUAT831B) comes with the power module and then you can take an xlr cable out of the module.
Q: 2. Is this mic picking up footsteps on a theater stage?
A: This is designed for surface-mounted applications on conference tables, podiums, lecterns, etc...
Q: 3. I have a Tascam DR-701R that provide phantom power, so still I need piut the Battery in the AT831B?
A: It is battery or phantom. So you can run it with the phantom power on your DR-701, or if you would like to save some battery power on your DR-701, you can run the AT831B on battery power.
Q: 4. is connector swivel ?
A: The connector is a 3 pin XLR and it does not swivel.
Q: 5. What is the best choice to small school auditorium, the omnidirectional or Hipercardiode ?
A: Omni-directional mics are more susceptible to feedback, especially in smaller spaces. A Hypercardioid microphone usually provide the best gain before feedback ratio, however they are not very forgiving and strategic placement is critical in order to get satisfactory results. One nay consider a cardioid polar pattern as they are more forgiving; not too broad to pick overly pick up background noise, but not so directional to the point that a user must be right on the mic for an audible recording or amplification.
Q: 6. I'm a little confused about their statement Self-contained electronics eliminate need for external power modules . It IS a condenser mic. I am assuming it still requires phantom power. Would the 12v phantom power from a typical shure mic mixer provide adequate performance?
A: It is a 48volt phantom powered mic. Whether or not it can work on 12 volts can be answered by reading the spec on the AT web site.
Q: 7. I'm looking for a microphone to capture dancer audio on a stage (steps, claps, tambourine, etc.). I'm also hoping to pick up the audience applause/cheering with the same microphone. I'm hoping I could tape this down on the edge of the stage to achieve that. Has anyone done this? What were your results? What kind of microphone would work better? Thanks!
A: This mic will work for you but be aware that the sound coming form the front of the mic will be much louder than from behind it since it is a cartioid microphone.
Q: 8. Does this mic come with a base? I need to use it in the base that has a push to talk, push again to release setup.
A: It doesn't come with a base. I bought a Whirlwind Micmute PTD Push-to-Talk Switch to use as a base with momentary push to talk.
Q: 9. Does this need a power module or phantom power? Tried hooking an older but similar AT boundary mic to a TASCAM DR-40 using the COXMMXF25 cable and would not work with or without phantom power on. Any help would be greatly appreciated and thank you in advance.
A: Yes it will need phantom power. The spec. sheet that came with the mic should tell you the voltage. If your mixer can't do phantom power there are products out there that will hook up to the mic then into the mixer that will do the job. Good luck.
Q: 10. Would this be compatible with a Panasonic GH4 video camera? Or is there a particular adapter/connector required?
A: It has a full-size XLR connection. What input does your camera need? If you've got pro XLR you're all set. This is a great mic! If you have an 1/8 input, this isn't your microphone. :(
