Kodak VISION3 500T 7219 16mm Film 400' Rollis a high-speed, tungsten-balanced movie film characterized by a fine grain structure, broad dynamic range, and the flexible nominal sensitivity of a 500-speed index. It has a wide exposure latitude with exceptional highlight control for working in a variety of lighting conditions, ranging from high-contrast outdoor lighting to mixed interior light situations. Advanced Dye Layering Technology (DLT) is also used to reduce the appearance of grain in the shadows for cleaner detailing and clarity. As part of the VISION3 series of movie films, this stock has high archival stability and is well suited to digital post-production processes.

This item is one 400' roll of 16mm color negative movie film for process in ECN-2 chemistry. It is perforated on both edges (2R-2994) and wound on a Type T core for use in-camera, for making optical prints, or for bidirectional printing.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. heyis film kodak vision 3 500T suitable for super 8 camera CANON 310 XL?

A: No this is 16mm film, find super 8 cartridges and they should all fit in the 310XL

Q: 2. Has anyone shot with this film in naturally lit interiors at night? How did it look?

A: You definitely need a good bit of light to make it work. We were using 600 w arris only 10 feet away and barely scraped by a 2.8 aperture being perfect exposure. So if its really dark interiors with minimal natural light itll be pretty underexposed

Q: 3. what is the ISO of this film?

A: Set your meter to 500 iso.

Q: 4. Is this film (and specifically the spool it comes on) suitable for use in an Arriflex SR3 camera or an Aaton Xtera camera? Also, this film was only $208/roll a few weeks ago. Why the price increase?

A: The Kodak VISION3 500T Color Negative Film 7219/SP457 will be compatible with both the Arriflex SR3 and Aaton Xtera. As for pricing, the pricing on our site is dependent on our cost from the manufacturers. Its not uncommon for this to fluctuate.

Q: 5. Does this film record sound on Arriflex SR's?

A: It does not.

Q: 6. What kind of film development equipment is used to develop the film in a home darkroom?

A: We don't have any equipment for developing Super 8 film at home. You may find information online about this.

Q: 7. is this for low light shooting? what is the ASA i should use with this film?

A: You could use it for low light, sure. This is the most light-sensitive of this type of film that is available in this brand and type. It'll be used as 500 ISO if you're using a tungsten light source.

Q: 8. I'm from SouthAmerica. What happened with the scanner in Aeroports? Do you have some trust handly system?

A: I always request a hand inspection instead of the X-ray machines. It turned out great! Good luck and happy shootin

Q: 9. Can I use this film with a Revere-Eight Model 88?

A: I don't believe you can. I'm not too familiar with those cameras, but they are 8mm, right? This film is 16mm (which regular 8 actually is before they cut it), but it is 100 feet and would not fit into the camera. Plus, 8mm uses double the sprocket holes, so this film would not have enough holes, so it would't run well through the camera, and would likely get the sprockets punching extra holes in the film and/or jamming up. If that camera is Regular (Double) 8mm (which I believe it is), check out the B&W Fomapan. Regular 8 is at least cheaper than this 16mm film! If it's Super 8, there are a lot more options in terms of film stock. Hopefully that's a little helpful. Maybe someone else will know more about the Revere-Eight Model 88. Have you shot a test roll yet with the camera and verified it's functioning properly?

Q: 10. Can this be used for an arriflex 16sr?

A: I was wrong sorry.

[Color Negative] This is my go-to 16mm film. The high speed of the 500T allows for more flexibility with the exposure and is great for multiple lighting scenarios. Whether you are shooting in the studio or out in the sun, the results give the most gorgeous color and details. Although higher in grain then Kodak 250D, it is extremely sharp while still maintaining the film look. Will definitely continue to use!

[ECN-2] I shot this in NYC at night on the streets with zeiss superspeeds and I the film picked up more than I could see with my eyes. I'm very impressed with the range and smoothness. Much better than I expected it to be!

[Color Negative] My Experience with Kodaks' Vision3 500T stock is limited to only using it for super 16mm applications, but even then, it is an outstanding stock to use, and perhaps the only one I'm ever going to use. This stock handles over- and under-exposure like a champ, and the grain, while very prominent in super 16mm, is never too overbearing. Colors are rich and weighty, able to to be color-graded super quickly to get any look you want, and dynamic range is incredible. Definitely going to be using this stock again soon, whether in super 16mm or 35mm.
