Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Compatible with Canon 70D and Canon T3i?

A: This cable will work with both cameras.

Q: 2. Is this cable absolutely necessary if connecting the Zoom H6 to the mic input on a Canon EOS SL3 DSLR ?

A: Yes you will need an attenuating cable to adjust the outgoing line level audio signal to the microphone level required by the camera.

Q: 3. Can this be used with a 3.5mm or 1/8 in extension? If so, I'd want that on the line level side right?

A: I don't think it matters which side, there is an attenuator in hot wire in the circuit, personally I would put the side being attenuated (camera side) directly into equipment and have the full power side with the extension. Standard cable length issues apply for the extension.

Q: 4. What does half-normal patchbay operation refer to?

A: In a normalled patch bay, each set of jacks vertically have an internal connection between them. Top is generally the output of a device, bottom being an input. When a cable is inserted into either jack the connection is broken and signal routed through the cable elsewhere. A half normalled bay allows you to insert a cable into the top jack without breaking the internal connection similar to using a Y-Cable. The signal will then be routed internally to its normal destination as well as the inserted patch cables destination.

Q: 5. Canthis work with canon m50?

A: Yes, this attenuator cable could connect the headphone output of a device to the Canon M50.

Q: 6. Which end goes to which? There are no example pictures.

A: The side of the cable that is labeled 'Line-Level' on the Sescom 3.5 mm Line to Mic -25 dB Audio Cable for Zoom H6 (9") would connect to the line-level output on the recorder. The other side is the 'Mic-Level' connector, which would connect to the microphone input on your DSLR camera or camcorder.

Q: 7. Is this also compatible with the Zoom H5?

A: I use in on an H5.

Q: 8. Can I reverse the cable sides like the camera side in the H6 line out and the h6 side into the camera?

A: You can do that but that will not attenuate your signal and defeat the whole purpose of using an attenuation cable.

Q: 9. Can this tripod be used as handle for selfies/vlogs?

A: Yup it works i tried after you asked. you do have to use the 2 or 10 second timer

Q: 10. I need to use a dB meter while attached to something like a selfie stick. Can I turn it on, and the hold the unit about 4 feet away from me and still have it get a reading, without constantly pressing down on a button?

A: This unit would not be appropriate for your requirements, because it is made to go into a rack with a sound system, and runs off of AC power. I would consider a portable dB meter, such as the Galaxy Audio CM-130 CHECK MATE - Battery Operated SPL Meter, BH #GACM130.

[6.39 lb] Use for connections on my mixer. Easy to use. The mix of colors helps me keep track of the connections.

[6.39 lb] Does the job. I have some that are 4 years old that have made it through tours and tons of studio time. Hanging in there like champs. I will continue to buy these when I need patch cables.

[6.39 lb] When you are in a band you can never have too many patch cables. The color coding is great because you can follow your signal chain faster if there is a problem, even in low light.

[6.39 lb] My studio slowly grew during the pandemic to the point that I have 4 of these units with all my outboard gear routed in and out of them. I simply could not run my studio without them. They have always worked as they should. I had one input that did not normalize and I sent it in to Switchcraft for a repair; no questions asked. This unit is an industry standard for a reason.

[6.39 lb] I am using the 3' TS 1/4 cables with the ART T8 Isolator Transformer. The ART offers 1/4 TS input to output routing and the Hosa cables work fine. While they are not 'robust' by any means, with careful handling they are quite usable in the studio and do very well for patching. B&H has the best price on them.

[6.39 lb] All thick metal, with screws, weighs about 6 pounds. Not what I expected from HOSA!

[6.39 lb] They're cables. There's eight of them. They facilitate the transfer of electrons.
