You can extend and collapse the 58mm FotodioX 3-Section Rubber Lens Hood, which has a metal ring, to different lengths to accommodate wide, normal, and telephoto focal lengths. Therefore, it matches the field-of-view and does not cause any vignetting in the image while it is being captured. The hood blocks stray light from entering the lens, which reduces lens flare or glare, and it protects the front element from scratches and accidental impact.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the widest angle lens (on 35mm film format) this hood will cover without vignetting?

A: I use it for 35mm - 70mm zoom. I don't know if it will go any wider. I do know it will not go to 20mm.

Q: 2. Will this fit a Nikon d3300 standard 18-55mm? Seeking super easy collapsible lens hood for kit lens for traveling.

A: No it won't fit. The Nikon 18-55mm lens has a 52mm threaded filter mount and this lens hood is 55mm so you would need a collapsible hood that was 52mm and not 55mm. Hope that helps.

Q: 3. can be used with a tamron 70-200?

A: Yes as long as you lens is 77mm in diameter

Q: 4. Will this hood work with the Nikkor AF-S DX 18-300 f/3.5-6.3 ED VR lense? I see that some of the hoods available only work with specific zoom lengths.

A: The B+W 67mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood would fit onto the Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3G ED VR Lens as the lens has 67mm filter threads. However, as indicated under the Overview for the lens hood, the hood is designed for use with normal-length and short zoom lenses. I cannot guarantee the B+W 67mm #900 Rubber Lens Hood will cover the zoom range of the 18-300 f/3.5-6.3 ED VR lens. The rubber lens hood that would most closely match the zoom range of the Nikon 18-300mm lens would be the Hama 67mm Screw-In Rubber Zoom Lens Hood for 24mm to 210mm Lenses, B&H # HALHZ67. http://bhpho.to/1yuEumX

Q: 5. Do they fit the Fujifilm X100-series?

A: the lens hood fits my Sony A6000. It can only be used from 50mm and beyond because it vignets. I do not use it.

Q: 6. Can you use this on a window to eliminate reflections?

A: Yes, you can use the Sensei LHR2-T58 3-In-1 Rubber Lens Hood (58mm) on a window to eliminate reflections, but I would recommend the Lenskirt LENSKIRT Flexible Lens Hood instead.

Q: 7. How can this hood possibly be limited to a 200mm lens when a 200mm lens has a 12 degree angle of view and a 400 mm has a 6 deg?

A: The Kaiser 77mm 3-in-1 Rubber Lens Hood is designed by Kaiser for lenses with focal lengths from 28mm to 200mm; however, it is permissible to use it on any focal length that you want to, including 400mm.

Q: 8. What Is there a version to fit a larger 150-600mm lens with a 95mm filter size?

A: Heliopan makes 95mm rubber lens hood Heliopan 95mm Screw-in Rubber Lens Hood BH #HELHR95

Q: 9. Will this work with a side pinch cap?

A: Not very well. Cap pops off often.

Q: 10. Does this have an inside ring to screw in filters?

A: Yes, the lens hood has a 58mm filter thread to put a filter in the hood and lens cap.

[Metal, Rubber] An essential accessory made of high quality materials. By far the best quality made lens hood on the market. Works perfectly. Added benefit of being able to screw a filter into the front threads.

[Thread] Using a polaroid filter with a plastic lens hood is near impossible and if you can figure out a way to turn the filter, you get fingerprints all over it. With the Heliopan lens hood, you screw it into the polaroid filter and then the filter into the camera. Then, when you adjust the polaroid, you just turn the rubber lens hood. Problem solved.

[0.115 lb] Using this type of hood since the '70s it was obvious for me to go for it again. After ordering a Pentax 645 lens SMC 75mm I figured out that I did not own the proper size (58mm) yet. My oldest rubber lens hoods still in use without any wear are more than 40 years old.... Those Heliopan hoods do allow using the original snap-on lens caps which makes them much more usable. Another bonus is the protection of the lens' front.
