[Arca-Type] Bought this for the bubble level. Fits the BeFree tripod perfectly, while still be able to compact down to smallest size.

[Aluminum] I just started using this clamp instead of the RC2 type clamp that came with my Manfrotto Befree GT XPRO.

Pros: More secure feel/operation - using it gives me more piece of mind that I'm not going to dump my expensive camera on the ground. Tightening the screw by hand gives you a better feeling that your camera isn't going anywhere. I feel the arca-swiss type clamp is easier to position the camera plate in correctly. I almost dumped my camera on the ground several times when using the RC2 clamp because the front of the camera plate wasn't sitting right even though it appeared it was properly seated.

Cons: takes a little more time/effort to mount camera.

[Screw Knob] This adapter allows me to install my pd Capture Clip, which is attached to the bottom of my Sony A7III camera, to my Manfrotto befree GT Carbon Tripod. When I’m not using the tripod I can attach my camera via this clip to the front of my backpack for easy hiking. When I see a landscape shot I want to take, now I can easily remove my camera from the front of my backpack, and attach it to my tripod. When I'm done, it's an easy transfer back. Installation was a breeze. I just unscrewed a screw, took off old adapter, put on this new adapter, and screwed it in with same screw.

[Yes] I prefer to use Arca type plates on my medium and large format film cameras. The Befree travel tripod with its very small ball-head is not exactly the optimum choice for those cameras, but because of it's light weight and portability I find myself using it more frequently. So this clamp is a welcome product from Manfrotto.

[Arca-Type] This Arca Swiss conversion kit looks beautiful: it is provided with a black screw and I mounted it on a 486 head (the non RC2 one, that is the one with a 1/4 thread). The modification is relatively easy, you need a 10mm wrench to remove the original screw under the rubber pad.


Mechanism is nice and again it looks great. However there is a sort of flaw in the design in the sense that you are supposed to mount the camera with a short plate with rails perpendicular to the camera body base, so you can see the spirit level. Of course, all my plates are long and mounted parallel to the body base. At least you can mount the camera!


Speaking of the spirit level, it was 1 or 2 degrees off so I had to extract it with just a little bit of nail polish solvent and glue it again after calibration. Anyway as you don't see the level after the camera is mounted, this was done more to satisfy my OCD tendencies about levels.

[0.29 lb] Excellent replacement for Manfrotto’s proprietary mount. Easy to switch out and works wonderfully !

[Screw Knob] It's a nice upgrade to an existing Manfrotto ball head to make it Arca Swiss compatible. I also ordered an L bracket from 3 Legged Thing to put in it. They work perfectly together.
