Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Do all of the 1/4" x 20 threaded mounts have metal inserts?

A: Yes, the 1/4-20 threads of the Ulanzi U-Rig Pro Smartphone Rig are all metal.

Q: 2. Does it function without the 15mm rod section attached? As in can it be secured to the camera and a tripod plate without the 15mm rod "block" in the middle? The pictures seem to imply this might work, but there are no clear views. My use-case would rarely need the rods, but the shoulder support/belt clip could be useful for a lot of inconspicuous run and gun work.

A: Yes. The 15mm rods can be taken out of its places.

Q: 3. In plain everyday language what does this item do and when it is used?

A: This is a shoulder mount rig that works with virtually any camera and lens combo. It allows you to shoot with a camera on your shoulder and it gives you mounting points for accessories such as a follow focus and matte box.

Q: 4. what.s the difference between Pocke Rig 2 and Pocket Rig 3 ?

A: The Edelkrone PocketRIG v3 refines that original design, adds new features. The most notable addition is the half cage which features a new set of movable mounting points to attach accessories. you will be able to attach lights, microphones, monitors, and more anywhere on the cage.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with iPhone X?

A: According to GlideGear, "Yes, the DM 100 will accommodate the iPhone X".

Q: 6. I shoot mostly run and gun documentary work.. I'll use a tripod or slider for certain shots, but often have to pick the camera up in a hurry to catch something. How feasible would it be to have a quick release plate (small arca swiss plate) attached to the bottom of the Pocket Rig 2? Would it affect the designed ease of use or overall functionality? Would it still be solid to mount to a quick release receiver on tripod?

A: The Pocket Rig 2 has a 1/4 -20 tripod mounting thread underneath. You will be able to attach a quick release plate to the unit and I don't think it will hamper the operation, especially if it is a low profile QR Plate.

Q: 7. Is this brighter than the GVM LT-10S? Or less so because it is RGB?

A: The outputs are the same for both units.

Q: 8. Is there a threaded hole on the bottom of this in order to attach a tripod plate?

A: Yes, the Ulanzi U-Grip Pro Camera/Smartphone Handle has a 1/4-20 threaded hole on the bottom.

Q: 9. Would this work with the Sony FS5? It's small and lightweight but the description only specifies DSLR cameras.

A: This combination is unknown. That being said, if it is made to be solid, it might be a very good, very compact chest support for the FS5.

Q: 10. Is this metal or plastic?

A: The Godox VSS-R01 Smartphone Rig would be plastic.

[0.41 lb] This is a very reasonably priced device that allows me to use my iPhone as a motion picture camera! I like the cold shoe mounts for lights and microphone.

[0.41 lb] Sorry for the pun, but in all seriousness, this thing is awesome. I only wish the jaws opened a 1/4 more, but other than that, this is a great tool for shooting with my phone and GoPro.

[0.41 lb] I am using this to hold my GoPro on top, a mic, a light and the cell phone in the middle. The GoPro talks to the cell phone allowing me to see a larger image and have manual control over most of the features of the camera. It is light, sturdy and useful. I had to drill a couple of holes in the shoe mounts to accommodate some lock down screws. Have used it many times and even got a compliment from another videographer.

[0.41 lb] As far as I could tell, this rig was virtually the same as others I viewed that cost 4x as much. It's all I need, light, sturdy, holds my iPhone 13 Pro-max securely. With the DJI mic receiver connected it's maybe a bit snug, but still quite useable and really a very minor non-issue imo. Very handy to use with a tripod, attach gerry-rigged sunshades etc. Highly recommend.

[0.41 lb] I'd heard lots about Oconnor products, but was never in the position to justify their upper-echelon prices. I sprung for this kit during a compelling promotion (this entire kit cost about what the hand grips alone usually cost), and I'm happy to say that their legendary quality is immediately evident. Everything about this rig has the rock-solid feel of a Mercedes Benz.

The solid build means it is a bit heavy, especially when kitted with everything. My setup has a Canon 5D mk IV, Xeen Cine lens, Cinevate follow focus & matte box, an Anton Bauer battery, and Atomos Ninja Flame recorder. This rig holds everything in place with a solidity that feels like a single ENG-style camera.

My single complaint is that I wish there was a rubber cover for the extension screws on the bottom of the hand grips. They have sharp metal edges that could easily scratch a surface if placed with the grips not at an angle. Or they should re-engineer this so that this part is recessed below the edge of the grip.

[0.41 lb] If you use your iphone for self tapes, this is a great rig for your smartphone.

It will snug your phone in and secure it in position. And you can manipulate it easily if you are in front camera mode for a live audition to get the right angle.

If you have an external microphone that you want to use you can mount it on U-Rig and connect to your smart phone directly. (make sure you have the right cables i.e. trrs to trs). Or maybe a recorder like an H1n, mount it up. Just make sure you have the right little screws and cold shoes to add them up. You can by some 1/4-20 Male to 1/4-20 Male screws and your zoom h recorders can mount. Or maybe a coldshoe with a 1/4-20 male. These adapters are really cheap so make sure you get them in the initial purchase to save on shipping.

I know you can add a light but for self tapes either get better lights that have their own stands or shoot it during daylight hours.

If you ever want to shoot something with your phone this gives increased stability for a fraction of the cost of gimbal (which are better at perfect stabilization but not as natural as this will yield.)

Overall it's a great price for what you're getting.
