A: As mentioned by Ronald, the atmosphere is a factor, particularly when the moon is near the horizon when the air is moist. Also, remember that the moon is a moving object and should not be shot at speeds below 1/125. The old rule of thumb is 1/125 at f/8 with ISO 100.

[16.3 x 8.7 x 2"] This foot is the perfect solution to mounting these very large lenses on a tripod. It makes for a lower profile and is much more stable than a tripod plate attached to the tripod foot provided with the Sony 400mm lens. This has made me a fan of Kirk products. 5

The Kirk foot is smart, well made and yet reasonably priced. This is my third Kirk replacement foot (100-400mm and 200-600mm). The length of the foot allows me to balance the lens on a gimbal-style head, whether I'm shooting with the camera body only or with a camera body and vertical grip. I also really like the QD socket when I'm carrying the lens with a strap for handheld action shooting instead of on a tripod or mono pod. This foot has it all. I'm very happy with this replacement foot and B&H! 5

[0.325 lb] Perfect fit, like the longer than stock handle for carrying. Comes with T-handle Allen wrench for easy assembly. Have not tried the QD attachment but would like to in the future 5
