Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will the flat base 502HD video head fit on this tripod? Thanks!

A: Yes, it will. It has a flat base with a 3/8 male screw. The good thing on this tripod is that you can lower it to a 16.9 height, the bad one it's weight: 9.5 lb. Too heavy to carry-on all day. Setup time in sloping terrains will take longer than a tripod with ball head.

Q: 2. What is the diameter of the column? I need a longer column 35mm OD.

A: The diameter of the column is 35mm.

Q: 3. Is this tripod too heavy to bring with when travel?

A: It depends on type of travel, how long, shooting needs, I would bring this instead of golf clubs. I do much better with the tripod than clubs, and better golf shots with it!

Q: 4. Is this compatible with the Benro GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head. Might there be any issues?

A: No, the GD3WH 3-Way Geared Head would make a great pair to the Manfrotto 131TC tablemount geared column with clamp.

Q: 5. I'm confused by the questions regarding a head. I limited my search for tripod LEGS only, not legs AND a head. So does this unit have a head that comes with the tripod legs? or do you buy the head separately? N.b. I don't want the head. Thanks.

A: This is a set of tripod legs only minus the head.

Q: 6. Is theere any information how to remove the head from these legs? I purchased one with the head, but id like to use it for a slider.

A: Typically you just unscrew the head from the legs. Make sure the panning lock is tight, then unscrew, there maybe some grub screws below the head platform, in which case the must be backed out in order to remove the head.

Q: 7. Can I mount a huddle cam on this?

A: This arm would require a ball head or pan tilt head on top first. If your camera has 1/4-20" thread at the bottom, then the added head will be able to hold it.

Q: 8. The clamp appears to be bolted to the gearbox which then drives the column. Do you know what thread size the gearbox is tapped to? So i can remove it from the clamp and remount it.

A: You would have to contact Manfrotto for that information, their number is (201) 818-9500 480-940-1103 repairs

Q: 9. Is this tripod like the old 055? Are the legs interchangeable? Thanks

A: I never has a 055. The legs on this one arent interchangeable

Q: 10. Hello.Im wondering, this tripod comes with those 3 screws to adjust any given head to the base?Or they come with the head?thank you.

A: The tripod comes with a standard 1/4-20 and 3/8 tripod screws; any standard head should be compatible. The three screws (included) around the baseplate don't attach to the head -- you screw them in to lock the head so it can't rotate on the standard mounting screw. It's actually a very nice arrangement.

[30.1 x 8.8 x 5"] Prior to using this device I was shooting table-top scenes with my camera on a tripod. Regularly tripping over the tripod's legs eventually got to me. So when I found out that Manfrotto made a geared, table mounted column, I decided to give it a try. And I have never looked back. Table top photography is now a pure joy. I highly recommend it as a useful table-top tool.

[5.4 lb] This is built like a tank. It’s absolutely amazing quality and easy to mount and use.

[30.1 x 8.8 x 5"] Very solid and sturdy. Gear works fine so it will beat the cheap, no-brand microfocusing rails. Ideally it should have come with Arca-Swiss adapter one might want to use. Still great thing if you catch it on flash sale like i did.

[5.4 lb] Combined with a sturdy ladder of appropriate height and ballhead this becomes the most versatile camera platform imaginable...superb for architectural or any location work requiring elevated/varying camera positions. Tabletop is way understated...Bogen/Manfrotto needs to rename this product...perhaps Elevator Geared Camera Column...

[5.4 lb] I'm using this to attach a tripod head to my cart. The clamp itself feels super secure and I'm not worried about that at all.

The geared column is less secure. Probably totally fine for a DSLR, but I'm pushing the envelope with a Sony F55 on here. When locked it holds it fine, but unlocked the column will slide all the way down so I need to remember to put a hand on the camera before raising/lowering.

Still giving 5 stars because it's probably not meant for my use case and feels pretty solid considering. I do wish the weight capacity had been included in the specs page though.

[5.4 lb] Have this clamped to a 2x4 that is attached to drywall below a window so I can mount various binoculars, up to and including a 14.5 pound astronomy model. The sturdiness, ease of adjustability, and overall quality is typical of the other Manfrotto items I own. It is necessary to support the column by hand or have a firm grip on the crankwheel when loosening the lock knob if a heavy item is mounted to avoid it rapidly lowering but this isn't a factor if average weight cameras and devices are being used.

[5.4 lb] Once the pandemic hit, these were out of stock for months. I ended up purchasing a more expensive desk-camp mounting arm from B&H. While the alternative product theoretically offers some added flexibility, its build quality was underwhelming, and the articulation makes the camera inherently more unstable in terms of bounding around if my desk moves at all--even while keyboarding. The arm mount also had a minimum effective mount height slightly higher than I wanted. This Manfrotto column product gives up any ability to move the mounting location horizontally (except by clamping elsewhere along the edge of your desk or table), but it's incredibly sturdy and well engineered. Height adjustability is versatile, easy, and locks down very securely. The simpler design offers inherently superior stability. It's expensive for what it is, but the value is good for how well engineered and constructed it is.

[2-26" / 5-66 cm] I have a small office that I needed to mount a DSLR camera for production purposes and needed the flexibility of something that could clamp to a desk and be adjustable. This fits the bill perfectly. Sometimes I use it with a Glide Gear teleprompter, sometimes without. This allows for the adjustment to all needs and people. I did buy a video head for it, but you could try it without, first, to see if *you* find it useful.

[2-26" / 5-66 cm] I use this product to mount a camera system used for timing tack meet running events off a 12' ladder. This tablemount lends great stability to the camera, which can not move during operation.

[30.1 x 8.8 x 5"] I really love this product, as it has simplified shooting jewelry photos for me. After modifying my work bench so that I could clamp this to my bench, I have found it to be much more stabile than a standard tri-pod, and it takes up much less space.
