The Cokin Z-Pro NUANCES Clearsky Filter - 48 Char SEO Titleis designed for use with a Cokin {pnseries} Filter Holder. It can be applied to reduce the appearance of light pollution in images or video that include the night sky and illumination from artificial light sources. This effect can be obtained when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected.

Light pollution occurs in areas of the night sky that are above or near concentrated and intense sources of artificial light such as cities. These light sources can include exterior and interior lamps for commercial or residential buildings, brightly lit advertisements such as billboards, streetlamps, as well as sports and entertainment venues. Together they can result in a type of light pollution known as sky glow, where individual stars, the Milky Way, and other astronomical features in the night sky are obscured. Additionally, artificial lights clustered together can become difficult to individually discern. Light pollution from these "cluttered" sources can become a source of distraction within an image and can resemble overexposed areas of glare.

When used, the Cokin Z-Pro Series NUANCES Clearsky Filter can improve the results of nighttime images by absorbing the yellow light from sodium-vapor lamps or mercury-vapor lamps, common light sources within urban areas. By preventing the dominant wavelengths of light associated with the color of those lamps from being recorded, the visibility of astronomical objects is enhanced, and artificial light sources are more clearly defined with less glare and improved contrast.

This filter is constructed from optical-quality neodymium glass for clarity as well as color fidelity.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will it cause vignetting on the 16-35 2.8L II with an 82mm adaptor ring? If so, at what focal length? Thanks,Lin

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer has not specified which focal lengths vignette will be present, however, generally speaking, vignette begins to occur with focal lengths shorter than 24mm on a full-frame camera.

Q: 2. What is the outside diameter of this ring ?

A: The Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder Adapter Ring (67mm) has an outer dimater of roughly 100mm. This is meant to perfectly fit the Cokin Z-Pro Series Filter Holder.

Q: 3. Will this adapter fit my Nikon Nikkor 50mm prime lens? It takes a 58mm adapter, but I don't know about the pitch thread.

A: The Cokin Z filter thread will be the same as your Nikon lens so there will not be any compatibility issues.

Q: 4. Will this work with a Lee 100mm x 150 mm (4 x6 ) filter?

A: Yes, this will work with a LEE 100mm x 150mm filter.

Q: 5. Hasselblad Carl Zeiss Distagon 1:4 50mm lens can use this project?

A: There are 3 versions of this lens , all with different filter mounts. The 50mm 1:4 CFi takes Bay 70 accessories like the Cokin adapter you reference. The earlier 50mm 1:4 CF takes Bay 60 accessories, and the even earlier 50mm 1:4 C didn't use the Bay system; it accepts Series VIII accessories. So, it depends on which generation of the lens you have.

Q: 6. Are the Cokin 4-color filters made of glass or plastic/resin?

A: The P series filters like these would be comprised of resin.

Q: 7. Does the Cokin Multi Filter Wallet for 6 Filters and 1 Holder fit the 85 x 110mm filters? The blurb just says Cokin P filters without specifying the maximum sizes (eg 85 x 110mm). Almost all the filters that I intend to buy will be the 85 x 110mm size ND Grads.

A: It will not fit the 85x110mm size filters.

Q: 8. Will format Hitech 4x6 filters work with this?

A: These items were purchased as a gift. I never used them.

Q: 9. Please what is the outer (unthreaded)diameter of this adapter? To work strait on my Chromatek compendium it should be 10.8mm.Can't find the original adapters anywhare..Thank YOu so much for telling me :-)

A: The Cokin 82mm Z-Pro Adapter Ring is 4 in diameter.

Q: 10. Is this ring adapter compatible with Lee filter holder?

A: I am not sure, as I bought mine for the Cokin filters, which it works fine with... If this just slides into the Lee filter holder, it should work fine...HTH

[Light Pollution] Great product, very well built. Anyone looking for a wide shot, this is it. I use it with 16-35mm lens, it works perfectly, no vignetting.

[0.405 lb] I wish it could held three filters instead of two, as this would allow me to stack additional ND filters for extra-long exposures. Aside from that minor complaint, the product is excellent. It holds the filters very securely without being too terribly tight. However, I did have some instances in which my front tilt was accidentally moved when trying to insert a filter due to how tightly it held them. But I'd rather it hold them tightly than not tight enough. Removing the CP filter can be a bit tricky.

[Light Pollution] I discovered the Cokin Nuance Clearly filters when I ran into light pollution problems while taking pictures of the Perseid meteor shower last year. These filters take out all the brown/orange gradient in the sky, and I actually pick up some color in the stars. They work perfectly with my deep sky astrophotography rig, and I really like the way they can accent autumn colors in daylight work.

[0.405 lb] This filter is great. I use it with Nikon D850 and the images are awesome. I have used those plastic filters and was always scratching them. I have not drop it yet so I'm not sure how it will hold up on rocky terrain. I believe it will hold up on Sand or grass just fine. With higher mega pixels bodies you need to put good filters on your lenses or don't use one at all because it will show in your images.

[Light Pollution] I was looking for a great variable ND for video and this one is almost perfect. The extending knob is just the right size and easy to move, but I wish there were hard stops at the Min and Max markings. Overall highly recommend.
