The 67mm Cokin NUANCES ND Filter 67mm 5-10 Stopfrom Cokin NUANCES ND Filter 67mm 5-10 Stopis designed to mount onto lenses with 67mm front filter threads and provides an exposure reduction of 5 to 10 stops. Its density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. For easier, repeatable control over density settings, the front ring is visually demarcated with dots and includes a rotation lever to further enable fast and precise positioning of the front ring.

This filter is constructed from Schott B270 glass for increased optical clarity as well as color fidelity, and each glass surface features 16 layers of Cokin's EVERCLEAR 5 anti-reflection coating. These coatings are resistant to oil, dust, dirt, and scratches, offering greater protection to the filter and helping it to stay clean for longer than with uncoated filters. The coatings are also hydrophobic, resulting in an improved beading effect when in contact with water for greater cleaning efficiency.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to apply differing amounts of density from scene to scene.

Darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.

Provides an exposure reduction of 5 to 10 stops, allowing you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

Offers increased flexibility to use specific ISO settings or ISO films under bright ambient light.

Provides increased exposure flexibility while using cinema or video cameras within a designated film frame rate.

Constructed from Schott B270 glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity.

16-layer Cokin EVERCLEAR 5 multi-coating prevents internal ghosting and reflections; is oil, dust, dirt, as well as scratch resistant; and provides an improved beading effect with water for more efficient cleaning.

Slim, 9.5mm thick aluminum alloy filter ring assembly helps to prevent vignetting while remaining lightweight.

Side lever allows the filter glass to be easily rotated.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you stack PolarPro ND filters?

A: The PolarPro 82mm ND1000 QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 3.0 and Circular Polarizer Filter (10-Stop) have front filter threads, so you could stack them with other filters.

Q: 2. How does this compare to the ND1000 without the polarizer? Does adding the polarizer feature have any negative impact on the quality of the ND aspect of it?

A: Having the added polarizer allows you to reduce reflection or glare in addition to reducing the exposure overall.

Q: 3. does the canon lens cap the comes with a 77mm fit on this filter? the older Hoya I have I can not fit my canon lens cap on

A: No, like most variable ND filters, the lens cap that came with the lens will not fit on to the Hoya 77mm Variable Density II Filter.

Q: 4. would this work with the tilta mini matte box if I added an extension ring in there?

A: Yes, It comes with an 82mm adapter ring.

Q: 5. I've read and heard online that this filter effectively cuts some measure of IR. How true is this?

A: Syrp does not list any specifications on IR transmittance. Without a listed specification, this is subject to product variance. It is impossible to guarantee a specific IR attenuation.

Q: 6. Can I stack this filter with PolarPro 82mm Peter McKinnon Signature Edition II Variable ND 1.8 to 2.7 Filter (6 to 9-Stop) and have a great result?

A: The PolarPro 82mm ND1000 QuartzLine Solid Neutral Density 3.0 and Circular Polarizer Filter (10-Stop) has front 82mm filter threads so you coudl stack filters. It is never a good idea to stack a variable ND filter with another ND filter. This will reduce image quality.

Q: 7. Will this fit over a 67 mm B&W ND filter on my lens or do I need to remove the ND filter first. Also, will a 67mm lens cap fit on this Syrp ND filter?

A: If your existing filter has 67mm front filter threads, you can attach a Syrp 67mm Variable Neutral Density Filter to it. It isn't recommended to use more than one ND filter at a time, however. You can attach a 67mm lens cap to this filter.

Q: 8. I have a Tamron 100-400 f4.5-6.3. Is an ND64 filter too high of stops for it? What should I take into consideration when looking for ND/Polarizer filters?

A: It's hard to say how many stops is too much because the contextual information (i.e. the kind of exposure/photograph you are trying to create) has significant influence on how many stops you might need. Technically you can use any amount of stops you want and likely achieve a similar result, but you will need to adjust your ISO, aperture, and/or shutter speed/bulb exposure times to compensate for the light loss. The ND64 QuartzLine ND and CP combo is great because it allows you to the option of not stacking a simple ND and CPL, thereby shooting through two pieces of glass instead of three. This is better for image clarity and lowers the chance of reflection/refraction issues between filters and glare.

Q: 9. Does it have a hard stop in each end of the scale? And does it have front filter threads?

A: Yes, the Urth 77mm ND64-1000 Variable ND Lens Filter Plus+ (6 to 10 Stop) has hard stops at the end of the scales and also has front filter threads.

Q: 10. What size Push-On lens cap do I need for this filter? The frame of the filter seems to be larger than 82mm

A: If you are planning on keeping the step ring on while you shooting yes you will have to buy an 82mm cap

[0.2 lb] The filter is well made and attached to the camera easily. It should last a long time.
