Designed for flexible and easy deployments which require an enhanced in-room Wi-Fi experience such as boutique hotels, small offices, or doctor's offices, the HPE Instant On AP11D Access Point with DC Adaptersupports Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) and provides up to 867 Mb/s on the 5 GHz frequency band. It also supports Wi-Fi 4 (802.11n) and provides up to 300 Mb/s on the 2.4 GHz frequency band. Equipped with down-tilt, omni-directional internal antennas, this dual-band access point features a Gigabit Ethernet port that supports PoE (Power over Ethernet), ideal for transmitting both data and power over a single cable. Smart Mesh technology makes it easy to expand the network into hard-to-wire areas.

Multi-user MIMO technology allows the ceiling-mountable access point to handle multiple simultaneous data streams. An integrated Bluetooth Low Energy radio allows for location-based and indoor wayfaring applications. With the mobile app or the cloud portal, you can easily manage your Wi-Fi as well as create separate guest and employee networks. Use the included clips to mount the access point to the ceiling rails or to a solid surface, like a wall or ceiling.

Q: 4. Does this require an Aruba account and/or cloud-based management? I need to set up an air-gapped network and all network management/configuration needs to happen locally. This would be attached via a 1Gbps port on an existing managed router.

A: Yes, the Aruba Instant On AP22 Dual-Band Access Point with 12V Power Adapter require an Aruba account for setup. A local connection can suffice as well. More information can be found at https://www.arubainstanton.com/techdocs/en/content/get-started/application-login.htm

Q: 5. Does this power supply give you Power over Ip or is this for local power of the AP11?

A: The power supply is for locally powering the AP11.

[12 VDC] I originally had an Netgear Orbi mesh router, however it was slow as molasses. Once upgraded to the access point, my speeds tripled. Needed an AP due to the firewall configuration. One bit of advice, don't buy this stuff on Amazon. They sold a used AP that was still linked to another account. Won't be doing that again.

[802.11ac] This was easy to set up, you need to install their app to control it and set everything up. First setup was easy, it was as simple as plug it in and wait for the lights to flash the right pattern, it does take a bit of time so be patient. Otherwise setting up the network was very easy. The only downside is finding advanced settings can be kinda hard, but once found it makes sense. Very good coverage, and can hit advertised speeds no problem.

[WPA2, WPA3] I have been using the AP22 for over two weeks now and it has performed very well. Setup was simple - connected it to a PoE switch, used the mobile app to add the device, made the modifications I needed, and within 10 minutes I was up and running with WiFi 6 available for the first time. Being able to make changes by way of the cloud is pretty handy.

This is definitely not geared towards enterprise users, but rather SMB. Or in my case, home power user. Those wanting absolute control should probably look towards Ubiquiti or Ruckus devices. Those who don't need absolute control and just want easy to manage connectivity should look here.

As soon as more WiFi 6 (or 6E) Aruba devices are available, I will be expanding my network further for sure.

These devices run a little warm so much sure they have plenty of airflow!

[Yes] I installed 4 of these devices in our community clubhouse. One is connected to our Comcast business router via ethernet cable (as the base), the others synch wirelessly with the base as a mesh network. The devices provide for good WI-FI reception across the entire clubhouse. Their phone app makes it very easy to define the network and setup the devices, and I am not a pro by any means. The hardest part was finding a good spot for the devices to cover all the rooms we have in the building. The phone app tells you if have good/fair/poor signal with an access point and the base, helping you to locate it. I went with the Aruba APs versus others I read about as they have the best features for the price. So far I am very happy with the purchase.
